Week 3 Challenge – Card 4

Uncategorized

26 Jun

Hello, Crafters.

It’s not often I do
multi-coloured cards
but today is the
exception! I

 knew which stamp
set I wanted to use
– Big Day from Sale-a
-bration earlier this
year – and the design
just called out for
a selection of colours.

I used six, including
black, which I used
for stamping the
image.

I used the Lucky Stars
Embossing Folder for
the first layer.

The Whisper White
banner was punched u
sing the Triple Banner
punch.

The striped paper
underneath is from
the Cherry On Top
Designer Series Paper
Stack.

I cut it 2 3/8″ wide and
about 1/2″ longer than
the Whisper White
banner.

I eye-balled cutting
the fishtail to follow
the Whisper White
punched one.

I coloured in the
actual cake and the
word CAKE using
Blushing Bride, Mint
Macaroon and Soft
Suede Stampin’ Up!
marker pens.

I painted the word
CELEBRATE using the
Mint Macaroon marker
pen and the edge using
the soft Suede marker
pen.

I huffed on the stamp to
re-moisture the image
and stamped onto a piece
of scrap Whisper White
cardstock.

Then I fussy cut it out
and adhered it to the
banner using small bits
of Dimensionals.

I used the same three
colours for the cake
and then painted the
candles using the
Chocolate Chip
marker pen and the
flame with the
Daffodil Delight
marker pen.

With the aid of my
Stamp-a-ma-jig, I
stamped three images
on top of the cake.

Again with my marker pens, I coloured the “hollow” images in and finished off with Dazzling Diamonds.

I’m pleased to say, after the concerns I voiced yesterday about struggling for a fifth idea for my Different Layers Cake card, I had a lightbulb moment and made the card straightaway. Today’s layer are all pieces of embossed cardstock using three different Embossing Folders: Decorative Dots, Arrows and Happy Heart! I stamped some Whisper White cardstock using the stamp for the third layer of the cake and punched out three flowers. Today, I’ll be doing my idea no. 4 for my layers!

I have a very busy day today planning for my classes tomorrow. Yesterday I was working on a great  3D project which I’d found in a magazine but the template just didn’t work out. So, it’s back to the drawing board on that one!

Until tomorrow, happy crafting.

JanB.

Hi, Scrappygirl2010. Many thanks. Towards the end of that challenge I wasn't sure that I'd come up with a fifth idea but by the skin of my teeth………………………… Kind regards, JanB.
