Hello, Crafters.
For yesterday’s card, I decided to use a non-traditional colour and chose Pool Party.
The only stamp I used from the Peaceful Pines Stamp Set is the sentiment: ‘Tis the Season.
For the rest of the card I concentrated on two of the dies plus the card stock for the top layer.
I started with a base of Whisper White card stock with a layer of Pool Party.
The card stock I’ve used for the top layer is from the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper which was one of the items available during Sale-a-bration at the beginning of the year.
We were told that, like everything (normally) that’s on offer during SAB, it would not be available once SAB finished.
I stocked up on Irresistibly Yours DSP because I absolutely love it. Fortunately, Stampin’ Up! have brought out something similar in the new annual catalogue.
It’s called Colour Me Irresistible DSP #138439 and includes white embossed sheets you can colour yourself and self-coloured sheets in the same designs. The designs are horizontal stripes, diagonal stripes, “speckles”, a small honeycombe-like pattern, wood grain and spots.
The colours are the five new In Colours, plus black and white. If you haven’t noticed it in the catalogue, check it out on page 142.
At the end of the day, I needn’t have worried about stocking up! But, as I do have a supply of the SAB set, I’m happy to use it!
Anyway, I digress – let’s get back to the card!
I sponged some of the star patterned Irresistibly Yours DSP with Pool Party Ink.
I die cut 3 Christmas Trees using the smallest die and then used the “circles” die on the trees – this created random holes in the trees.
Then I die cut 3 more trees using the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. I layered the “holey” trees on top of the glimmer trees using Glue Dots so that each tree had the glimmer paper showing through the holes.
I adhered these to the card base using Dimensionals starting at the top left hand corner working my way down to the bottom right hand side.
Each tree was topped with a white glimmer paper star that had been punched out using the Star punch from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack.
I stamped the sentiment using Versamark and sprinkled with Pool Party Embossing Powder, which I then heat set.
I punched it out using the 1.25″ Scalloped Circle Punch and, using the same punch, I punched out one in the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.
I sponged the edges of this circle using Pool Party ink and layered with the sentiment so the scallops on the two circles were offset.
This was adhered to the card with Dimensionals.
Finally I made a double bow using some retired ribbon and adhered it using two Glue Dots, placing it in the opposite corner to the sentiment.
Before I go, I just wanted to show you the huge marrow hubby grew in his vegetable garden! I should have put something with it to give the size some perspective, but never mind!
For dinner last night he cooked the most amazing Chicken Stuffed Marrow! It was absolutely gorgeous. We haven’t had a good summer this year but the marrows have thrived – there are more on the way! Yummy!!
Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
