Hello, Crafters.
Well and truly back to my normal routine yesterday – back to work!
The working is a pleasure – I work for my daughter! – it’s the driving there and back because I get caught in the school run, both times!
I have just uploaded my video tutorial called Dazzling Diamond Baubles.
You may remember recently I showed you the bauble I’d made without realising Stampin’ Up! had already come up with the idea and that there was a picture of it on the front page of the new Christmas catalogue! Doh!!
Anyway, this video shows you how I made mine – see the final photograph.
When I arrived home yesterday afternoon, I made myself a cup of tea and went straight into my studio. This is the card I made for project 2 and the design came together so easily.
Originally, I fussy-cut one of the Father Christmas figures from a sheet of DSP from the Home For Christmas set.
Before beginning to cut it out, I adhered it to a piece of Whisper White card stock to give it a bit of body. Once it was done, I worked on the main body of the card.
I started with a base of Night on Navy card stock, with a layer of Whisper White card stock and topped with a layer of Night of Navy.
I embossed this top layer in the Woodland Embossing Folder. Using a Dauber and Whisper White Craft Ink, I sponged the embossed trees and branches.
The snowflakes were from the Happy Scenes Stamp Set. I tore a piece of Whisper White card stock in half.
I turned one piece over so the “layered” torn side of each piece faced front. I adhered the two layers to the card base and the torn pieces Facing outwards.
When I put my Father Christmas figure on the card, I really didn’t like it at all.
On to plan B! I stamped the snowman from the Sparkly Seasons Stamp Set using Black Memento Ink onto Whisper White card stock.
I coloured it in using the Night of Navy, Real Red and Pumpkin Pie Marker Pens. Then I cut it out and left a small white edge around the “arms” because they were far to narrow to fussy-cut. Then I coloured them using the Basic Black Marker Pen.
I adhered the snowman into position and added some glue using the Two Way Glue Pen. I also put some glue on the “snow” and sprinkled all these areas with Dazzling Diamonds.
The final touch was to add Noel which was die cut using Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and the die from the Wonderful Wreath Framelits Dies Set.
With the exception of the Dazzling Diamonds, I used Tombow to adhere everything together. I wish all my designs for my cards came together as easily as this one did!
Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.
