Valentine Card

Uncategorized

11 Jan

Hello, Crafters.

I hope you’ve had a great weekend.

I spent my day yesterday sorting out the household finances and then my accounts. I had to get this sorted as my accountant is coming round to see me this morning!

Bearing in mind, I’m not a big conglomerate like Microsoft, how long do you think it takes me to prepare my accounts for my accountant?? Almost nine months!!

I’ve just added it to my New Year’s resolutions: accounts must be presented to accountant by 31st July. That still gives me four months to get myself prepared! There, I’ve admitted it and disclosed my plans to you………………..so I have to do it now!

I wasn’t left with much time to go into my studio yesterday but I did manage long enough to make this beautiful Valentine card.

It’s from the first stamp set I ordered from the Spring catalogue. In fact it was in the order I placed when I was at the OnStage Live Convention In Brussels last November.

The Bloomin’ Love Stamp Set comes as part of a bundle with the Bloomin’ Hearts Thinlits Dies.

These items are on pages 16 – 17 of the new Spring catalogue. This is without a doubt, my favourite set in the new catalogue.

I bought everything on these two pages except for the cardstock which I already have! Although it’s probably aimed at Valentine’s Day, this set will be great for engagements, weddings and anniversaries.

To start today’s card I took a card base of Basic Black Cardstock with a layer of the Gold Foil.

I wiped the top layer of Basic Black with my Embossing Buddy. I stamped the heart stamp in the top half of the card using Versamark and then I stamped the sentiment in the bottom half.

Once they had both been stamped, I sprinkled them with Gold Embossing Powder and heat set them. I don’t recommend you do the heart first, heat set it and then the sentiment because there’s a risk of re-heating the first one you did.

Also, you have time a fair bit of time to stamp one, then position and stamp the second image before worrying about the Versamark drying.

Although I haven’t tried it, I imagine you could stamp four or five images in one go before you have to start covering with embossing powder and heat setting.

I adhered my top layer to the Gold Foil, using Tombow and tied a piece of our gorgeous 5/8″ Gold Satin Ribbon around the middle of the card and tied a bow. It’s amazingly easy to tie a bow with this ribbon………….I just wish we could get it in lots of other colours.

Although, having said that, you can get it in Blushing Bride if you buy the Bloomin’ Love Accessory Pack!

Until tomorrow, happy crafting.

JanB.

As I've said before, I love black and gold. Looks very sophisticated.
