Yesterday I spent a fair amount of time – very successfully – catching up with things I’d allowed to slide because of my hospital appointment last Tuesday. It’s a lovely feeling knowing I’m started this week with a clean slate!
I received an email yesterday morning from Stampin’ Up! confirming that my order has been shipped! Later this morning I’ll be able to find out when my delivery day is – I expect it to be Tuesday, while I’m at work!
I’ve used my all-time favourite colour combo for today’s card i.e. red, black and white. Because I’d been concentrating on getting back up to date with my admin yesterday, I chose to make a simple but very striking card!
If I’d had more time, I would have tried a few other options using various combinations of Basic Black, Real Red and Whisper White Cardstock, for layering, flowers and flower centres; Basic Black, Real Red and Whisper White ribbon, etc.
The only parts I would keep the same are the card base and the Designer Series Paper Stack.
I started my card with a Whisper White Cardstock base, with a layer of Real Red and a top layer of Whisper White.
I cut a piece of the Basic Black flower design from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack that was half the size of the top Whisper White Layer. Then I adhered the two together using Tombow.
I cut a piece of retired Real Red Ribbon and wrapped it around the top two layers, anchoring it in place by using SNAIL.
Then I adhered this to the card base making sure I put some Tombow on the ribbon as extra security to make sure it stays in place.
I used the Botanical Builder Dies to die cut three flowers in Real Red and three centres in Basic Black.
Making sure that I was firmly but carefully holding onto the petals, I used a pencil to curl them upwards.
I also made sure that the centre section of each petal was standing proud of the outside of the petal.
I also curled the three black flower centres and adhered them in the centre of the Real Red flowers using Tombow.
I also used Tombow to adhere them to the card front.
I chose the sentiment from the Wetlands Stamp Set and, using our Basic Black Archival Ink, I stamped the it onto a piece of Whisper White.
I used the retired Large Oval Punch for the sentiment and the Retired Scalloped Oval punch for the Real Red layer. I’m waiting for my Ovals Layering Dies to arrive with my order that should be here today.
As before, the sentiment and the layer were adhered together using Tombow and then onto the card front.
My final touch was to add the largest size Pearls in the centre of each flower.
I think that’s about it. I hope you have a great week and until tomorrow, happy crafting.
