I
made a mistake while I was making this card and only realised when I was
tidying up.
Can you spot what the mistake is before you read far enough
for me to tell you?
I
like this stamp set, called Big on Birthdays, because it has some good
plain old-fashioned birthday greetings! See photograph 8.
It has three Happy Birthdays,
and a Wishing you a very happy birthday, plus five other greetings.
The
sentiment I’ve used for today’s card would be ideal if you’d forgotten
someone’s birthday and needed a good card in a hurry!
I
started my card with a base of Shimmery White Cardstock (CS), with a
layer of the Rose Red Stripe design from the Regals Designer Series
Paper (DSP) Stack.
Then I layered a piece of Shimmery White CS at an
angle on top.
Using Archival Basic Black ink, I stamped the sentiment
onto a piece of Shimmery White CS.
Unfortunately, I took too long
thinking about the positioning of the sentiment, which meant the ink had
dried quite a bit and I didn’t get a particularly good image with the
writing.
I decided to very slowly and very patiently, paint over each
letter using my Smokey Slate Marker Pen.
It worked a treat! I coloured
the flowers using my Rose Red Marker Pen and the leaves using my Garden
Green Marker Pen.
I
wasn’t happy with the stark white background and looked at my other
stamp sets for something I could use to take the edge off it!
I saw the
Watercolour Wash Stamp which I hadn’t put together yet! See photograph 7.
I prefer to get
wood mount for background stamps because I find it easier to hold a large wood
block rather than a large acrylic block.
I
inked the stamp up using Rose Red ink and had to stamp off five times
before it was light enough for what I wanted!
I didn’t photograph the fifth stamp off because it was so light! See
photograph 6.
The pink is very subtle but does stop the
card looking stark.
Then I made my mistake! I layered the image onto a
layer of Melon Mambo CS ……..it should have been onto a piece of Rose
Red CS! Did you spot the mistake?
I attached the image at an angle on the piece of layered Shimmery White CS already on the card base.
My
final touch was to add three Rhinetones to the centre of the flowers.
That’t about it for today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.

Honestly, on my little screen I still could not spot the mistake even after you explained what it was … the subtly of the colours simply doesn't show up, so … maybe it wasn't so serious that most would see it either. Really like the font and the floral image and how you've put the watercolour wash in the background! Great colours and layout too! I give it *****
Hi, Geraldine. I didn't notice it on my card! It was when I was tidying up, I put the Melon Mambo file away – I'd been using that preparing for Sunday's video – but the Rose Red was already away! Now that I know it's wrong, it screams out at me whenever I look at it! LOL! ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.
love the card would never have spotted your mistake, till you said what it was, happy new year to you and your family
Hi, Kaye. It's one of those things that only gets noticed once it's pointed out! Happy New Year to you and your family, too. ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.
