Up & Away!

Uncategorized

17 Jan
Hello, Crafters.
Today’s card features the beautiful die cut balloon from the Up & Away Thinlits
Dies.
Since I made one to go on my
granddaughter’s birthday card last week, I’ve really
wanted to make another one – it’s just so gorgeous!
I’m quite surprised at how
much I’ve taken to this stamp and die set, it’s outside my normal comfort zone.
I think it’s being fuelled by the Carried Away Designer Series Paper (DSP) that’s
available in the Sale-a-bration (SAB) catalogue!
I think that’s gorgeous, too!

I started my card with a base of Mint Macaroon Cardstock
(CS), with a layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of the Mint Macaroon and
Whisper White cloud design that’s in the Carried Away DSP.
Before I adhered the three
layers together with Tombow, I stamped the flock of seagulls three or four
times on the top layer using Soft Suede Ink.
The seagulls are from the High
Tide Stamp Set.
Once I’d stamped the sentiment, which is from the Lift Me Up
Stamp Set, in Soft Suede Ink, I was ready to
adhere the three layers together!

I decided to use green and
orange as my colour scheme for this card.
I die cut the intricate balloon using
Always Artichoke CS.
For the lining of the balloon, I started with a really
dark orange, Cajun Craze, and worked my down to Crumb Cake CS.
Starting from the top and
working my way down to the basket, these are the colours of the CS I’ve used:
Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango, Delightful Dijon, So Saffron, Crumb Cake and
Emerald Envy.

When I was writing about how I
made the balloon for Molly’s card, I said it’s a lot easier if you paint it
with the Clear Wink Of Stella Glitter Pen BEFORE you adhere the layers.
Unfortunately, I forgot my own advice and adhered it all together first! GRRR!
I started
painting the framework with Wink of Stella, but became so frustrated because I kept going over the lines, I painted it all – framework and lining!
I adhered the
balloon at an angle, using Dimensionals.

I added a sheet inside and stamped
the small balloon using the Ombre Emerald Envy Stamp Pad, which has retired, but you could use the Peekaboo Peach Ombre Ink Pad instead.
Fortunately, I
stamped it on a scrap of paper before doing the real thing and on such a small
area I really couldn’t see the ombre effect.
To get around this, I inked the top
part of the stamp with the top part of the ink pad and the bottom half of the
stamp with the bottom part of the ink pad!

Brilliant! The result was superb!

The individual sections of the stamp pad can be removed so you can use each “slice”
as an individual ink pad but as I only wanted the lightest and the darkest, that is top and bottom, I
left the “slices” in situ!

That’s it for today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting,

JanB.

Love how the addition of the seagulls gives this card a wonderful sense of depth and dimension Jan. You've really nailed it with this card, the colours are just great too! Really well done!
