Garden in Bloom Video

Uncategorized

2 Apr

Hello, Crafters.

What a
beautiful Spring weekend this has turned out to be!

I think that the card made in today’s video epitomises
everything about Spring!

Normally, I’m not really into yellow, but I chose So Saffron and Crushed Curry as my colours for
today’s video because there’s so much yellow in the garden at the moment!

I’m really pleased with how my card turned out and have made up my mind to use yellow more often!

The last shot in the video is like my garden, i.e. a riot
of colour!

The four colour combos I’ve used for this card are Sweet Sugarplum with Rich Razzleberry, Marina Mist with Dapper Denim, Wisteria Wonder with Perfect Plum, and Crushed Curry with So Saffron.

I really don’t have a favourite – I love them all!

As I said yesterday, I’ve started to make my Colour Coach again, but neatly this time! I’m also thinking about adding something extra – I’ll keep you posted if I do!

And,
oh dear! What a bloomer I made with the Wisteria Wonder card – it was a first, and hopefully the
last!

I obviously wasn’t concentrating on what I was doing because I adhered the Whisper White layer on the wrong side, inside the card!

It was easy enough to correct because I adhered another piece in the correct place, but do you think it looks odd – see photograph 7?

When I added the first bees, I stamped their bodies with the appropriate stamp using Daffodil Delight.

I then added a little sparkle by colouring over the Daffodil Delight using my Gold Wink of Stella Glitter Pen, and I painted the wings with the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.

The Gold Wink of Stella Glitter Pen is definitely a deep enough colour which  makes the stamping with Daffodil Delight on the body redundant!

I love how discreet the sparkle is with Wink of Stella.

I’ve been using the gold pen more and more since I used it on my Christmas cards that featured Father Christmas; it looks great on the buckle of his belt.

There must be several other examples where the gold pen really comes into its own. Are there any times I’ve not mentioned that you feel that it does? I’d love to hear your suggestions!

That’s about it for today. I wish you a happy Sunday and until tomorrow, happy crafting.

JanB.

I loved the mistake that created the double layer in the card. It is quite different and sometimes we need to change things up.

Hi, Donna. I suppose because I know it's a mistake, it looks wrong!! ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.

SO glad that you did a video on this card, Jan. It was more "complicated" than I first realized just looking at the photo. But once seeing it done, it's not really at all. Your rule of 3 … if you include your sentiment label and the 2 bees, you're covered and it is very eye-pleasing, so you needn't think of 3 bees … the sentiment makes the 3rd element. This is really beautiful in the yellows and like you, not a big yellow person, but I will most definitely be making my 1st card in this colour way, so many thanks for showing us how. Super video, stunning card!!

Hi, Geraldine. That's why two bees looks right then! At least we've had a chance to dust off the yellow ink pads! ! ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.

Very beautiful Garden In Bloom 4-set of cards. Yes, looks perfect for Spring! Thank you for this great idea of using only 2 colors on a card. Also, I like that you share your mistakes, too. Helps us to learn.

Hi, Pamela. Pleased you like this set of Spring cards. I see them as happy cards, probably because they're heralding summer in in the not too distant future! LOL! ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.

Jan, I love to visit your site and see all that you create. You do such lovely work! The inside of your Wisteria card is great, it gives an opportunity to write a nice note. BTW, I too have made the error of placing the inside layer on the backside of the front.. upside down. I cut the card front off the back and used it as a postcard card. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing all your work!!

HI, Anonymous. I didn't think about that but yes, it could be used as a note card! I'm so pleased you enjoy my projects, and thank you for your support! ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.

Hi, Vicki. Yes, I like it, too. I didn't think I would because the flowers are too sketchy but with the two step stamping, it's gorgeous! ☺ Happy crafting. JanB.

Hi, Pearl. You're right about the bees. The first card I made, I didn't put the bees on and it looked as if something was missing. It changed it totally once I'd put two bees on. Amazing! It's always the little details that make so much difference! ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.
