Happy Birthday Thinlit

Uncategorized

30 May

Hello, Crafters.

To
create today’s card I’ve used a new product as well as a a few that will
only be around until tomorrow, and then they retire!

These products
are the 2015 – 2017 InColours – Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon, Mint
Macaroon, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder – which includes the
cardstock, inks, marker pens etc.

Also retiring is the Succulent Garden
Designer Series Paper (DSP).

The
Happy Birthday Thinlit is a fabulous new addition to our dies.

My card
is a standard A6 size (A2 in US) so this gives you a good idea how big
the die is.

I
started my card with a base of Whisper White Cardstock (CS), a layer of
Tip Top Taupe CS, and a top layer of a design from the Succulent
Garden.

I adhered them all together using Tombow. Then I die cut the sentiment from Tip Top Taupe
CS, using my Precision Base Plate.

I painted the sentiment with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen – I think you can see some
sparkle on photograph no. 3 if you look really closely! LOL!

Then I adhered the sentiment to the card
front using Tombow.

The
flower and the leaves are from the Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set which
is a two-box set, and has a co-ordinating Thinlits called Flourishes.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a die for the stamped flowers, nor the leaves ,
so I did a lot of fussy cutting yesterday evening!

Using Sweet Sugarplum
Ink, I stamped two identical flowers and then using Mint Macaroon Ink, I
stamped six pairs of leaves.

I fussy cut one complete flower and the
second one I did around the white line.

After
I’d fussy cut all the leaves as well, I curled the petals using a
pencil.

I started adhering a pair of leaves behind two long and one
short petal, and then missed the next group and adhered a set behind the
third group, and so on around the flowers. I hope I’ve explained that
properly!

I
decided the flower looked too regimental like this, and went back and
adhered a pair of leaves behind all the gaps I’d left first time round.

I
had to leave one gap otherwise the overall flower would have been too
large to fit in beside the sentiment.

I painted all the petals with my
Wink of Stella but left the leaves plain. Again, I think you can see some sparkle in photographs 3 and 4.

Using one Dimensional, I
adhered the smaller flower on top of the larger flower and then adhered the flower on
the card front using Tombow!

I finished the flower with a large Basic
Pearl

To
complete my card, I adhered a layer of Tip Top Taupe CS inside the card,
together with a layer of Whisper White CS, on which I’d stamped the large
flower with Sweet Sugarplum Ink, part on and part off the layer.

Special note: I have added a new page to my blog called Videos.

Last week one of my YouTube subscribers asked if I put the list of Products & Measurements for my videos on my website.

The reason she asked was because she wanted to do a Copy & Paste, but it can’t be done from the box below the video.

I will continue to put the details in the box below the video, but I’ll also put them on the Videos page.

That’s about it for today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting,

JanB.

Yes, isn't that new Happy Birthday die a real winner?! And you get full points for all that painstaking fussy-cutting, and oh my, the results were so worth it … this is truly lovely, Jan!

Hi, Geraldine. Yes, it's fabulous! I'm going to get some of the Sizzix Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets when the new catalogue goes live. Have you ever tried it? ☺ Happy crafting. JanB.
