A few
days ago, I received a request from Ms G, who follows my daily posts,
asking if I could give her some help with a challenge she’s been given!
The challenge was to use Night of Navy and Basic Grey Cardstock (CS), as well as Dazzling
Diamonds Glimmer Paper for some wedding stationery!
I probably had the same reaction
to this request as Ms G must have done when she was presented the request!
This did the
trick!
As I looked at the three colours together, I could see that
something else light-coloured had to be introduced, hence the white
embossing!
This is not a colour combo I’d normally go for, but the more I
look at my card, the more I’m liking it.
I’d like to see it made with
the colours switched round i.e. Night of Navy base, Basic Grey flowers!
I
spent some time turning the idea over in mind and I came up with a
total blank!
I decided to get one sheet of each cardstock and the
Glimmer Paper to sit on my desk so I could actually
see the colours together, rather than just imagining them together!
To
make this card I started with a base of Basic Grey CS with a
layer of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.
I used the hexagon die from
the Window Box Thinlits on the top layer of Basic Grey.
Using Glue Dots,
I attached this layer to the card base.
I used the Petite Petals Stamp
Set – so sad this is retiring at the end of this month! – and heat
embossed six flowers in white embossing powder on Night of Navy CS.
I
punched them out using the Petite Petals Punch – sadly also retiring at
the end of the month!
I adhered them around the die cut and added a
Basic Pearl in the centre of each one.
I
chose the sentiment from the Flourishing Phrases, heat embossed it in
the same way as the flowers.
I layered this on a piece of Dazzling
Diamonds Glimmer Paper, and adhered to the card base using Tombow.
I
took a piece of Whisper White CS and stamped several flowers at the
bottom using Night of Navy Ink.
Finally, I adhered this inside the card for the
sender to write their personal message.
That’s about it for today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting.

Well, it strikes me that if anyone could pull this one out of the hat, you could, Jan and indeed you have! It really is rather elegant, and I do hope that MsG was pleased with your efforts too!
Hi, Geraldine. As you know, I don't normally shy away from challenges, but I did think this one was going to beat me! ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.
This is Ms. G. I want to Thank you so much for your help. I don't feel so bad when I read your comments. You did a beautiful job with those colors. I'm going be using he new flowers in Color Seasons Bundle. The bride added the color of Calypso Coral to the mix. So it does look a little better. I'm making a copy of your card and see if the bride likes it for her invites. I agree with you about switching the colors around. Again, Thank YOU for your help!
Hi, Gloria. I'm so pleased you like the idea I came up with. I don't normally shy away from challenges but I very nearly did with this one! LOL! How much easier it'll be Calypso Coral added! ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.
