Yesterday
I chose to play with the Feeling of Christmas Stamp Set which will be
available in the new Christmas Catalogue which goes live on 1st.
September 2017.
I
selected this stamp set because it has a wreath that calls out to be
coloured, but it’s also a two-step stamp.
I wanted to compare a two-step
stamped wreath with a coloured wreath.
Unfortunately, our circle dies
aren’t big enough to die cut the wreath which is what led me to fussy
cut them.
I
started by stamping two wreaths onto Whisper White Cardstock (CS) using
Basic Black Archival Ink.
Using Real Red, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede
Marker Pens, I coloured the first wreath.
Then I coloured the second
wreath with just the Real Red and Soft Suede wreaths, omitting the
leaves.
There are four mistletoe berries on the wreath, and I painted
them with my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen.
I inked the two-step
stamp for the wreath in Pear Pizzazz Ink, stamped off once and then onto
my second stamped wreath.
I don’t believe there is any right or wrong
way of which way this stamp should be position, so I decided which part
of the stamp had the least amount of pattern and stamped that area over
the bow.
Comparing
the two fussy cut wreaths, I’m really surprised that I like the
two-step wreath better than the coloured one.
I then stamped a third
wreath on a squarish piece of Whisper White CS, and coloured it.
When I
compared it with the other two wreaths, I definitely liked it better
than the fussy cut coloured wreath.
In fact, I think I liked it best out
of all three cards.
Unfortunately I’d run out of time to try a fourth
card i.e. a two-step square wreath!
It was quite unintentioanl, but I
made the wreath on the third card look like a coaster, which started my
mind going in another direction.
I kept the basic design on all three cards the same, so comparing them with each other would be much easier!
I
started with a card base of Old Olive CS, then a layer of Whisper White
CS and a top layer of Designer Series Paper (DSP).
It’s the Whisper White spot on Old Olive design from
the forthcoming Merry Little Christmas DSP.
I
put a strip of the Whisper White on Basic Black script design from the
forthcoming Merry Music Specialty DSP from the top of the card to the
bottom.
I added a strip of the 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon down the centre of
this strip but stopped short of each end.
The sentiment is from the
Musical Season Stamp set which will be available in the new Christmas
Catalogue with a co-ordinating set of dies.
I
added a layer of Whisper White CS inside eah of the cards and stamped
the single strip of holly, which I coloured with Real Red and Pear
Pizzazz Marker Pens.
The last two photogaphs today show the two new
stamp sets as well as the new dies that’ll be availble in the new
catalogue.
