Christmas Quilt

Uncategorized

12 Sep

Hello, Crafters.

I
store my dies on magnetic sheets in ring binder cases. I adhere the
magnetic sheet on a piece of 7″ x 7.25″ white card that I cut from the
12″ x 12″ sheet that comes with our Designer Series Paper.

Then I die cut
one of all the dies in each set to ahere on the white card; sometimes
seeing a die cut gives a better idea than looking at the actual die!
(See my videoNo. 273 – Die Storage & Numbering)

When
I was preparing the Quilt Builder Framelits Dies for the case, I die cut
all the shapes as I normally do, but some of them I did twice using
different colours.

When I saw what the large star looked like, I knew I’d have to
make a card using this technique!

Needless to say, by die cutting this
twice, I make two completed stars but in opposite colourways!

You may
notice I adhered one red piece in back to front – the white lines don’t quite match up! LOL!

To
make this card I used a Whisper White Cardstock (CS) card base, with a
layer of Real Red CS and a top layer of one of the multi-coloured
designs from the Quilted Christams 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper pack.

Although it’s quite a busy design, it works because the colours are
quite muted.

For
the stars, I started with a 3″ x 3″ square each of a red design and a
green design, and attached them onto a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive
Sheets (MAS), which measured 3″ x 6″.

I die cut one colour at a time,
lining both dies up together, and, once they were done, I very carefully pushed each piece out
of the die using my paper piercer.

It just made my life easier keeping
all the pieces in position ready for me to transfer over the the frame
in the opposite colour!

It
was at this point I decided I only wanted the star, not the frame, so I
cut off the
bits I didn’t need.

I took two pieces of Whisper White CS about 3″ x 3″,
peeled the MAS backing off the green star frame, and and then adhered
the star onto the cardstock.

Then I placed each individual diamond shape
into it’s correct position.

I think I put one upside down because I was
distracted by the one above it, where I’d torn the tip off! I think you
can see it in the second photograph!

I stamped a small Garden Green flower from
the Christmas Quilt Stamp Set, onto a piece of Whisper White CS and
fussy cut it!

I adhered it in the centre of the star, and added a
Rhinestone in the centre!

Using
Real Red Ink, I stamped the sentiment, which is from the Snowflake
Sentiments Stamp Set, onto a piece of Whisper White CS, and punched it
out using the new Everyday Label Punch – see page 12 in the Christmas
(Autumn/Winter) Catalogue.

I punched two more in Garden Green CS and cut
one horizontally and one vertically. I adhered them on the back of the
sentiment, and tidied up using my Paper Snips by cutting off any pieces I
didn’t want to be seen from the front.

Using Dimensionals, I adhered the
star and the sentiment to the front of the card.

I put a Glue Dot on
one sticky side of two Mini Dimensionals, adhered them at the back of
the two leaves on the Stitched Felt Holly Embellishment.

 I positioned it
by the side of the sentiment and slipped another Glue Dot under the
berries.

My final touch on the front was adding three dimensonals on the
sentiment.

Inside
the card I adhered a layers of Real Red and Whisper White CS.

I fussy
cut three of the shapes that matched the DSP on front of the card and
adhered them at the base of the Whisper White layer.

I now have to decide what to do with the other star that’s in the opposite colourways!!

That’s it for today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting!

JanB.

Really beautiful, once again, Jan. LOVE what you're doing with this stamp/die set … just stunning! I'm excited to have this bundle in my own hands soon too. I can't imagine the maker of this bundle wasn't or isn't a quilter herself. It's so cleverly done! TFS

Hi, Geraldine. I'm sure you're right. Someone like me who knows nothing about quilting wouldn't know where to start! Fortunately, I don't need to be a quilter to get so much pleasure out of this set, and the designer knew that, too! LOL! ☺ Happy crafting. JanB.
