Add a Little Glitz

Uncategorized

9 Oct

Hello, Crafters.

I hope you’ve enjoyed a great weekend.

On
Friday one of my three orders arrived from Stampin’ Up! and brought with it some more Foil Snowflakes!

Today’s card is my first card using the Add a
Little Glitz Stamp Set, as well as a Silver Foil Snowflake.

The
idea in my mind for this card was to use a stamp set that I haven’t
used before and, as I now have snowflakes, I chose to use silver
embossing.

I
started with a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (CS), which I wiped
over with my Embossing Buddy.

I inked the stamp with Versamark, stamped
the image and sprinkled Silver Embossing Powder over it. After I’d
shaken of the excess, I heat embossed the tree using my Heat Tool.

I die
cut the image using a straight cut Layering Circle Framelit Die and
then layered it onto a slightly larger scalloped Whisper White CS circle
using the same set of dies.

I adhered the two layers together, using
Tombow, and then adhered the image to the Silver Snowflake by putting
Fast Fuse on the back behind the circle.

This was positioned very
carefully so the tip and base of the tree lined up with two opposite
longer “arms” of the snowflakes.

Using
the same heat embossing process that I used for the tree, I heat
embossed the sentiment on a piece of Whisper White CS using Silver
Embossing Powder.

This was then layered onto a piece of Silver Foil.

I
dry embossed my top layer of Whisper White CS using the Softly Falling
Embossing Folder, and adhered it to a layer of Silver Foil.

Unusually
for me, I chose to use the more heavily embossed part of the layer at the
bottom of my card.

I wanted the least embossed part of the cardstock at the top with the
very detailed snowflake.

I adhered the sentiment towards the bottom of
the card, and then positioned the snowflake so I had space to add a strip of
1/8″ Silver Ribbon between the two.

After I’d adhered both ends on the
back of the card using SNAIL, I added the layer to a Whisper White card
base.

Using the bunny ears method, I tied a small bow using the Silver
Ribbon and adhered it onto the strip of ribbon using a Glue Dot.

I finished the
front of my card by adding some Basic Rhinestones.

Inside
the card I added a layer of Whisper White CS and a layer of Silver
Foil.

The star I stamped inside is from the same stamp set, and I think
it can be used all year round for any celebration card!

As
I’ve been sitting here writing my blog, there’s been a power cut!
Apparently just over 200 homes affected, and at the moment there is no
indication when the power will be back!

My concern is how long will it
be before I can publish today’s blog? There’s only one thing I can do!
I’ll have to move into my studio and hope the daylight doesn’t become
overcast so I can’t see in there, too! ☺

Untill tomorrow, happy crafting.

JanB.

Pretty card, Jan. I can quite imagine that it sparkles with all the silver. I actually quite like that sentiment too! Pretty! Pretty!

Hi, Geraldine. This isn't the normal type of sentiment I go for but it fits in so nicely with all the sparkle on my card! ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.
