More Petal Palette

Uncategorized

30 Jan

Hello, Crafters.

I
think the Petal Palette Stamp Set and co-ordinating Petals & More
Thinlits Dies, is my favourite bundle in this year’s Spring/Summer catalogue.

Given how many super sets there are in the 2018 catalogue, I think it speaks volumes about this bundle!

I
started today’s card with a base of Pink Pirouette Cardstock (CS), then
a layer of Whisper White CS, and a top layer of Pink Pirouette CS.

Before I
adhered these layers together, I dry embossed the top layer using the
Simple Stripes Embossing Folder.

If
you find that an embossing folder tears your cardstock, do you know how
to deal with the problem?

I learned a great tip from France “Frenchie”
Martin years ago, and that is to put a layer of our Vellum CS inside the
folder on the front i.e. on the side with Sizzix on it.

I put a line of
Fast Fuse along the top of the Vellum CS, and then adhere it inside the
embossing folder.

If I find that this has helped, but not cured the tearing altogether, I add another sheet of Vellum CS on the inside at the back, using Fast Fuse again.

After this, I leave the sheets in-situ and dry emboss as normal!

Frenchie has just brought out a new video
demonstrating  this.  Frenchie’s Video: Tip for Embossing Folders.

I had to share that tip because it really does work! Back to my card!

I
took some Whisper White CS and, stamped the bird, the group of three
roses and the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

Then I coloured
the bird and the flowers using my Stampin Blends; Dark Crumb Cake for
the bird, and Light Pink Pirouette and Light Old Olive for the roses.

When I die cut them all, I positioned the die for the sentiment right at
the beginning of the word “From” so I had a space at the end to adhere some small
hearts.

I couldn’t see a current punch that would punch hearts that were small enough, so I looked through my retired punches, and pulled out the
Confetti Heart Border Punch – it did the trick beautifully!

I adhered
all three elements using Dimensionals.

My final touch for the front of
the card was that I painted over the three little hearts with the
Fine-Tip Glue Pen, which dries to a shine.

I
adhered a layer of Whisper White CS inside the card, and then adhered a
small cluster of hearts in the bottom right-hand corner.

Next I used my Fine-Tip Glue Pen again to glaze over these hearts in the same way I did with the hearts on the front of the card.

Overall, I’m pleased with the finished card, but I do think it would
have looked slightly better if I’d adhered the sentiment and the bird a bit
lower.

Fortunately, it’s a minor detail which I’m not going to worry about! ☺

I think that’s about it from me today! Until tomorrow, happy crafting!

JanB.
