Welcome 2018! I wish you a very healthy, happy New Year.
Yesterday
I was playing with Petal Palette Stamp Set (page 23), which I received at OnStage
in November.
It was one of the stamp sets we used for the make-n-takes.
All the designs in the Petal Passions Designer Series Paper (DSP) are
in black and white, and are ideal for colouring, which is what I’ve done
for today’s card.
My
card base is Pink Piroutte Cardstock (CS), with a layer of Whisper
White CS and a top layer of Petal Passions DSP, which I painted with my
Dark Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Blends (SB) (page 31).
I was undecided whether to
paint over the whole sheet, or just the white areas, but I wonder if I painted over the whole area, it would be a waste ink, or would it use such a minute amount, it wouldn’t matter!
For this
card, I decided to paint just the white areas only, and I’m pleased with the
result, although it was quite time-consuming.
My conclusion is that, because
you can replace the Stampin’ Blends individually, next time, I’ll paint
over the whole sheet.
Obviously, until I try it that way, I don’t know
if there are any drawbacks I haven’t thought of!
I do know that when you
paint over just the white parts, you inevitably go over some of the
black areas too, but when it’s dry, you can’t see it at all – it’s
brilliant!
At the moment, I like the idea of just painting all over, but
the jury is out until I’ve tried it!
I
stamped the three roses and the bird using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on
Whisper White CS, and coloured them using Stampin’ Blends (SB).
I’m no
expert when it comes to painting, but I get by!
I used the Dark Pink
Pirouette SB for the roses, the Light Old Olive SB for the leaves, and
the Light Crumb Cake SB for the bird.
I can’t resist painting him like a
robin by painting his breast with the Light Cherry Cobbler SB!
The
co-ordinating dies for this stamp set are called Petals and More
Thinlits, so I die cut the roses and the bird.
I also used the two
largest Stitched Shapes Circles Framelits Dies to die cut two Whisper
White CS circles.
I adhered them together using Tombow, layering them so
that the outside edges were lined up together – just something a little
bit different!
I adhered the roses on top using Dimensionals, and then
adhered it all to the front of the card using more Dmensionals.
Using
Tuxedo Black Memento Ink I stamped the sentiment, which is from the
Southern Serenade Stamp Set (page 49), onto a piece of Whisper White CS.
I die cut it using the an oval die frm the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies,
mounted it onto the card front using Dimensionals.
Then I
adhered the robin, half on and half off the sentiment using
Dimensionals.
Inside
the card I added a layer of Whisper White CS, and stamped and painted
another robin.
I don’t know what possessed me – tiredness probably, only excuse I can think of right now! – but
I stamped the branch using Wild Wasabi Ink!
It looks ridiculous!
I
going to get my Stamp-a-ma-jig set up today, and stamp over it with Tuxedo
Black Memento Ink.
If this doesn’t make it look any better, I’ll do it again, but die
cut it as a circle or maybe a square!
This is something else the jury’s out on at that at the
moment.
But one thing’s for sure, it will look better! LOL!
That’s it from me today. I hope you enjoy the first day of the New Year, and until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.
And a very happy and healthy New Year to you also, Jan. This is one of the prettiest suites in the new Occasions catalogues and I love how you have ventured to paint the vertically striped DSP for the background of this card. The DSP is amazing by the way … fun to anticipate all the wonderful creations that spring forth from this newest catalogue release (along with the Sale-a-Bration offerings, of course!) What a lovely start to the new year!! Thanks Jan, for sharing as always ~
Thanks, Geraldine. I think this may be the most popular suite in the Spring/Summer catalogue! As well as what I've shown here there are also some fabulous embellishments – the silver flowers on yesterday's Congratulation card. It's always my pleasure to share. ☺ ☺ Happy crafting. JanB.
Happy New Year, Jan. Hope it will be a great one for you. Looking forward to seeing all the new products.
Thanks, Sheron. It's certainly been a long time coming! Less than 24 hours to wait now! ☺ Happy Crafting, JanB.
