Bee Thankful

Uncategorized

Hello, Crafters.
EXCITING NEWS! Stampin’ Blends are now available to order in
current colours! I’ll update you about new colours as soon as possible.
If you don’t like fussy cutting, turn away now! LOL! I fell in love
with this stamp as soon as I saw it! I did wonder how difficult it
would be to fussy cut it, but didn’t give it any serious thought!
The first time I stamped the image, it was really crooked, but I decided
to colour it anyway, and then to fussy cut it! I decided to set up
my Stamp-a-ma-jig for my second attempt, which was an excellent
idea, but I do wish I’d bought this stamp as a wood mount.
That way I could use some acetate and set up a permanent sheet
for my stamp-a-ma-jig! Never mind, I can still work with this! I decided to
do some paper-piecing and stamped the image on a sheet from
the Tropical Escape 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP).

I fussy cut the letters in four sections, and ignored the leaves and
the bee, which I coloured in situ. As my design has a white
background, I toyed with the idea of painting the letters all over
with just one very pastel colour so I didn’t have white on white.
I decided against this idea and I’m glad I did! I fussy cut the
bee from my first attempt and adhered him onto the card I was
working on, which finished the card off nicely. I added two layers
inside the card but no decoration because I couldn’t think what to do!
My mind was racing ahead thinking about what I could do with
the first image I’d coloured with my Coastal Cabana Marker
Pen. I fussy cut the letters but I didn’t want to adhere them
onto a piece of plain CS, so I reversed what I did on the first card.
That is, I chose a design from the Garden Impressions 6″ x 6″
DSP, which goes with Coastal Cabana really well, even though it
isn’t listed on the packet as a co-ordinating colour. The colours that
are listed are intended as a guide, but it isn’t always a definitive list!

I used Tuxedo Black Stazon Ink to stamp the image on the DSP,
and then adhered the die cut letters in the correct places. I
stamped the bee on a piece of Whisper White CS, and fussy
cut him after I’d coloured him using my Daffodil Delight Market Pen.
As with my first card, I inserted a layer inside but didn’t decorate it,
because I couldn’t think of what to do except strips
of the DSP I’d used  on the front of each card!
Any ideas what you would have decorated them with?
That’s it from me today, so until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.

As much as I love the card, Jan, I love that you did all that fussy-cutting; my kinda gal! For the inside, I might just have stamped the little bee peeking in from the edge of the card stock … but plain is not bad either … or add a narrow strip of the DSP along the bottom … knowing you, you'll figure it out, I'm sure! LOVE IT though and thanks for sharing!

I love a large sentiment Jan, but I also love paper piercing and fussy cutting. So this design is probably for me. I was thinking that if you have to stamp out the image of the bumble bee separate from the letters then double could be stamped and coloured in so that there were enough to go inside the cards as well to decorate. Thank you for sharing these designs with us crafters. xx
