New Shimmer Paint

Uncategorized

30 Aug
Hello, Crafters.
LAST CHANCE! Today is the last day to pick up some freebies
in my Buy One Get One Free event.
Click the link above to find out the details! ☺
I had a lot of fun yesterday playing with the Champagne Mist
Shimmer Paint that will be available in the new Christmas
catalogue, which goes live on 5th September. As you know,
I’m not a good photographer, and I have concentrated on
trying to show you the shine that comes with this brilliant
product, and not worried too much about the colours.

The first thing I did was to cut a quarter sheet of Whisper
White Cardstock (CS) and then I gently attached a one quarter
of the large sheet design in the Delightful Detailed Laser
Cut Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).
I carefully adhered the DSP in two or three places around the
outside edge using some temporary adhesive (non-Stampin’
Up! product). Next I shook the bottle of Shimmer Paint really
well, took a Dauber, dabbed it in the lid and then dabbed
it all over the DSP.

Each time I put my Dauber in the lid, I wiped it off on the
rim of the bottle so I wasn’t putting the Glimmer Paint on
my DSP too thickly! Several times I had to re-shake the
bottle, and dab my Dauber in the lid. You can pour some
of the Glimmer Paint straight onto clear block, which I
may do next time, but I don’t like the idea of not using
everything I pour out, and therefore waste it!
The jury’s out on that at the moment!

When I had finished dabbing over enough of the DSP to cover
the Whisper White quarter sheet I had temporarily adhered it
to, I carefully separated the DSP from the CS, and WOW! The
DSP shimmered beautifully, and the design on the DSP
was shimmering on the CS!

I found that the Shimmer Paint stayed a bit tacky for quite
some time, although it did dry eventually! Later today I’ll
work with the Shimmer Paint again, and will test that it’s
alright to dry it with a Heat Tool. I can’t think of any reason
why this wouldn’t work, but I’ll test it anyway just to make
sure. I decided to make a card using the DSP rather than the
Whisper White background sheet – I’ll save that for another day.
Before I close for today, I want to tell you about an experiment
I had to make because I didn’t know if I should colour the
image first, or dab the Shimmer Paint over it first!  I stamped
the image I wanted to use – the Hand Delivered lady carrying
the wedding cake – and I tried it both ways.
The  photograph below shows them side by side.

The image on the left-hand side was coloured using Marker
Pens first, and the image on the right-hand side was
covered in Shimmer Paint first and then coloured with
Marker Pens. I found that the images were a lot darker
if they were coloured first, but apart from that, I found
it didn’t matter which was done first.
The photograph above shows the Shimmer Paint background
Sheet. I’m going to close for today, and will explain about
today’s card tomorrow. I will also let you know the results
of using the Heat Tool to dry the Shimmer Paint, and
possibly a card made with the background Whisper White CS.
There are so many different ways these Shimmer Paints can
be used, I’m looking forward to sharing them with you!
Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.

JanB.
