Hello, Crafters.
I wonder if you remember when glittery dryer sheet cards were very popular? They were a bit like today’s card but, instead of using wet glue and then Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, they used glue stick and a dryer sheet. I tried it once, and although the result was great, I felt the dryer sheet made the trees look too pale/faded. (Method: stamp trees, cover with glue stick, adhere dryer sheet, cover with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter). I hadn’t planned for today’s card to go the way it has but I am pleased with it. If I do this card again, I’d put less snow on the two green trees, and more glue/Dazzling Diamonds on all the trees.
The stamp set I used for the trees is Winter Woods, which has a co-ordinating set of dies called In the Woods (currently available as a bundle, therefore save 10% if ordered together – see Christmas Catalogue page 27). I chose the sentiment from the Night In Bethlehem, which is another great stamp set that has been brought forward from last year (see Annual Catalogue page 99 – dies available but no longer as a bundle). I started my card by stamping the background trees in Sahara Sand Ink, stamping once and then stamping a second time. Next I stamped the large fir tree twice using Shaded Spruce Ink. I added some snow on these two trees using my white gel pen; if you do this, be aware that the white gel pen will pick up some of the green ink so the snow will be a pale shade of green – don’t be put off, it still looks good!
Then I went over all the background trees using our retired two-way glue pen, and dipped them in Dazzling Diamonds. For the two green trees I decided on adding glue in a random fashion and then the glitter; this is where I said earlier, next time, I’d put glitter all over. I could go back and add more glue, but I won’t because I’m still happy with my card! I stamped the sentiment using Shaded Spruce, and die cut it with a Layering Oval Framelit Die. The smallest oval I could use without losing any of the sentiment, left quite a large area without anything in it. I toyed with all sorts of ideas, but settled for one star I found ready die cut in my Ziplock Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper.
I ran out of time to decorate the inside of my card. Just before I had reached that stage, hubby arrived home, and we went out for a meal together. We had a great tapas meal in a local Spanish restaurant – what a superb way to start the weekend? I hope you have a brilliant weekend whatever you’re planning to do. That’s it from me today, and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. Happy crafting!
JanB.
