Hello, Crafters.
I hope you have a lovely weekend ahead of you. I’m so looking forward to this afternoon as we have our son, and grandson popping over to visit. We don’t get to see Stephen very often nowadays; he’s at college, works part-time, and spends the rest of his time in the gym! The time we do get to see him, is truly treasured!
Today’s card features the Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper (DSP), as well the Ready for Christmas and Peaceful Noel Stamp Sets. (Please note this DSP is currently unavailable, but the All is Bright DSP features Crumb Cake). The card base is in Merry Merlot Cardstock (CS), and layered with Crumb Cake and Whisper White CS. I’ve seen this style of card before, sometimes with the centre panel fixed – as is my card – or loose as a slip in card.
I wasn’t sure what sort of measurements to use, but finally worked out something that looks about right! Next time I make this style of card I would make a couple of changes. First, I would dry emboss the Whisper White CS layer. Second, I would either stamp tone on tone, or dry emboss, the Crumb Cake CS triangle. The only ribbon I had in Merry Merlot is this twin sided half inch satin ribbon, but I felt it was too wide to tie in a bow at the front of the card. I needed an alternative, so I had a look in the Christmas catalogue to see what other products were available, and I saw the Christmas Trees and Stars available in the All is Bright Suite. I decided to put three on a strip of ribbon and wrap around the card. That’s thinking outside the box! LOL!
To stamp the Christmas tree behind the sentiment, I used Tranquil Tide Ink, stamped off once. For the sentiment, I inked the stamp in Versamark first, and then in Merry Merlot Ink. Once I had stamped the sentiment in place, I dipped the cardstock into my box of Clear Embossing Powder, and heat set using my Heat Tool. It’s amazing how shiny this method of heat embossing is. To finish off today’s card, I took a layer of Whisper White CS and stamped another Christmas tree in the same way as the one on the front of the card. This time I positioned it half on, half off the layer. Next I added a layer of Crumb Cake CS inside the card, and adhered the Whisper White CS layer on top.
I hope you have a great weekend, whatever your plans maybe, and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx
