Hello, Crafters.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the weekend, and feel fully refreshed for this new week! Today’s card was initially inspired by a card Stampin’ Up! made, and for which they provided written instructions for. It was a really beautiful card, probably a 6″ x 6″ (I didn’t actually look at the size!) but the main part that attracted me were the panels. A few days later I saw a similar card on Pinterest using the same Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper (DSP) in panels. Unfortunately, this product is now discontinued. This card could be made using the Frosted Floral DSP which also includes Merry Merlot! Today’s card is my spin on the two cards!
I started with a base of Merry Merlot Cardstock (CS), then Whisper White, CS, and another layer of Merry Merlot CS. I calculated the length and width for the panels, and adhered them in place. I used a three quarters inch strip of Merry Merlot Glimmer Paper. This is available in the Christmas Catalogue page 29, as Joyous Noel 6″ x 6″ Glimmer Paper 147817. The pack includes eight sheets each of Merry Merlot, Tranquil Tide and Copper Glimmer Paper. On top of the Glimmer Paper strip, I adhered a half inch strip of Sahara Sand CS, using Glue Dots. I inked the sentiment stamp with Versamark, and then Merry Merlot ink, before stamping onto a piece of Sahara Sand CS. I dipped it in some Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it!
I die cut the sentiment using the third size circle Stitched Shape Framelits Die, and adhered this to a larger die cut circle of Merry Merlot CS. I adhered the sentiment over the strip using Dimensionals. Although I was happy with the card, it needed something extra. My first thought was I wished I’d die cut the circle so it was closer to the top of the circle. This would have allowed me room to stamp one of the three images in the Timeless Tidings Stamp Set. My next thought was a Merry Merlot, or Sahara Sand bow, but I didn’t have the correct colour ribbon or Baker’s Twine, and I didn’t want a stamped and die cut bow!
While I was looking in my embellishments drawer, I saw the copper leaves. These are available in the Annual Catalogue page 198, as Leaves Trinkets 146343. There are 24 pieces, 6 each of two colours (copper and silver), in two designs (single leaves and a group of three leaves). Using Tombow, I adhered two single Copper Leaves with the stems just about touching each other, towards the bottom of the sentiment circle. Then I adhered a double bow I’d made using Baker’s Twine in Whisper White. I haven’t decorated inside the card yet, except for inserting a layer of Sahara Sand CS. If I send this card to someone in the post, I’ll take a piece of card (from the back of a pack of DSP) to lay on top of the card to cover the leaves. This will prevent the envelope being damaged in the post!
I hope you like today’s card, something nice and simple to start the week! That’s it from me today, and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Beautiful card, festive and bright xx
Many thanks, Annette. It never fails to amaze me what a big difference adding something small, like the copper leaves, actually makes to a project! Happy crafting, JanB. xx
