Hello, Crafters.
What a lovely day I had yesterday! Crafting, crafting and more crafting. I decorated the fancy fold card I have for one of my videos this week, and I came up with a surprise idea for my second video this week. My dilemma now, is which one first? The card I’m sharing with you today is my take on one of the cards we made at training yesterday. It was inspired by a card my team leader, Kim Fee, made and shared on her blog: https://kimfeecrafter.blogspot.com. The cards we made at training used our notecards which measure 5″ x 3½”. My card is a full size A6 i.e. 5¾” x 4 1/8″. I’m not sure what size Kim’s original card was except that it was a square, and had one butterfly. I used Smokey Slate Cardstock (CS), and Whisper White CS. I believe Kim punched her black and white butterfly from the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (DSP). I stamped mine using Stazon Ink, and the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set.
This is available as a gift in the Sale-a-bration Brochure. There are a number of different butterflies on this DSP that co-ordinate with the Butterfly Duet Punch. The stamp I used for the background is from the Sunshine Sayings Stamp Set. If you don’t have this stamp set, any grungy stamp will work. When I first saw the YOU’VE BEEN ON MY MIND sentiment I didn’t like it. I thought it sounded sad! That was, until I paired it with the HELLO Beautiful sentiment, and the two worked really well together! Ideal for a Valentine card.
Since I started working with these black and white butterflies, the Silver Metallic Pearls have really come into their own! I normally colour the butterflies using my Stampin’ Write Markers. On this occasion I used the two-step stamps, and coloured the butterflies using Smokey Slate Ink. The stamp set and punch are available as a bundle (see page 35 Spring/Summer Catalogue). If you buy the bundle, plus the Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ DSP (see page 35 Spring/Summer Catalogue) plus the Metallic Pearls (see page 197 Annual Catalogue), you will be entitled to a Sale-a-bration gift. You could consider choosing the Botanical Butterfly DSP, which will complement your purchases brilliantly!
That’s about it from me today! I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting!
JanB. xx
