Hello, Crafters.
What a cute stamp set Fable Friends is? The images are absolutely gorgeous, and a real pleasure to colour using our Stampin’ Blends. I used the sentiment DARLING BABY because it suits the rabbit’s expression perfectly! I can’t wait to use this image for paper piecing. Although I do think the paws will be a challenge! I seem to be using the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper (DSP) for almost every alternate project I make! The Balmy Blue Organdy Ribbon I’ve been using recently wasn’t suitable for this project as it’s see-through. The alternatives I had were Crumb Cake or Whisper White Classic Weave Ribbon, or this Night of Navy Gingham Ribbon. At first, I had my doubts about it’s suitability but now the card is finished I think it was a good choice! I stamped the rabbit using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I chose Light Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend for the jacket, and Light and Dark Crumb Cake for the rabbit. Once I had decided to use the Night of Navy Gingham Ribbon on my card, I went back to the jacket and coloured the two buttons in Dark Night if Navy! It’s a very small detail, but it does provide a small connection! LOL! I made a Post It Note mask for the rabbit so I could stamp grass around his lower paws. As I was about to cut the stamped image, I decided to cut two Post It Notes at the same time so I had two masks. The idea worked a treat! I used Granny Apple Green for the grass.
I adhered all my card layers together using Tear & Tape. Before adhering the layers to the card base, I attached some Night of Navy Gingham Ribbon around them. Next I used the largest Stitched Shapes Oval Die to cut out the image, which I adhered over the ribbon using large Dimensionals. I used a short piece of ribbon to tie a faux bow near the end of the ribbon! For my first attempt at stamping the image, I tried stamping directly onto the Crumb Cake Cardstock (CS) layer, using Night of Navy Ink! The stamp touched the cardstock before I was ready to stamp and caused a smudge!! Grr! The second attempt was onto a piece of Whisper White CS, and a success!I haven’t decorated the inside of the card apart from adding a layer of Crumb Cake, and then a layer of Whisper White CS, because I couldn’t decide what to do! Just a little update: I’m still adding the labels to my new cling stamps as I go along, and I love seeing the picture on the back of the stamps as I’m stamping. I’m so very surprised about this because I’d made up my mind I wasn’t going to use them! LOL! That’s it from me today. I hope you have a super weekend, and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, I hope you have plenty of happy crafting!
