Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday I went to lunch with the “ladies that lunch” from Church. There were ten of us, and I had a great time getting to know these ladies better. One of the ladies had some hilarious – but I’m glad it didn’t happen to me! – stories about rats eating the electrics in her neighbour’s car. If that wasn’t enough for one family, they were also invaded by bed bugs. Apparently, these were brought into the house in one of the sons’ rucksacks when he came back from having stayed in a hostel somewhere. It was later found out that the hostel had been invaded by these bugs!, which they later found out were infested with bed bugs! The Church ladies are a lovely group of ladies and made me feel very welcome. This is a regular event for them on the second Thursday of each month. Next month it’s on St Valentine’s Day!
Ever since I first received the Floral Romance Specialty DSP, I’ve wanted to use this patterned vellum as a prominent feature on a card. I had my Stampin’ Up! order delivered by UPS yesterday, and it included the Wonderful Floral Framelits which are all part of the fabulous Floral Romance Suite! In particular I wanted to use the long die that cuts the fancy leafy edge with the lattice panel. I wasn’t sure whether to make that as part of the opening of the card, or do what I have done, which is to adhere it to a layer underneath! I’m really pleased with the effect.
The stamp set in this suite is called Wonderful Romance and includes this sentiment, which I think is truly delightful! I used Fresh Fig Ink to stamp the sentiment, and then I die cut it using the no. 3 Stitched Shapes Framelits circle die. I fussy cut the image from the DSP, which fitted the space underneath the sentiment beautifully. To finish off my card, I added another fussy cut group of flowers and leaves, in the bottom right-hand corner inside the card!
I adhered the main piece of vellum, and the fussy cut image, by adding some tiny dots of Tombow on the back of the flowers and leaves. It’s almost invisible when it dries; not totally, but it’s very difficult to see!! I added three of the Fesh Fig Frosted Flower Embellishments down the line of Whisper White leaves, and then added a small Basic Pearl Jewel in the centre of each. Then I adhered really small pearls on all the Fresh Fig flowers on the vellum.
A very easy card to make but a very pretty card, which would be suitable for almost any occasion – except for a sympathy card. Please check out the elements available in the Floral Romance Suite on pages 10 – 11 of the new Spring/Summer catalogue. That’s it from me today. I hope you have a Fabulous Friday, and until Super Saturady, happy crafting!
