Hello, Crafters.
I hope the New Year has started off well for you! My first video of 2019 features what is probably my favourite technique i.e. paper piecing. I picked out four stamps sets from the Annual Catalogue which I thought would work well, and decided on You’ve Got Style. The reason I chose this is because as soon as I saw the coat I knew I could use some felt for the collar, cuffs and hat trim! I will be trying at least one of the other stamp sets to see if it will work. If it does, I’ll share it here with you.
I chose the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper (DSP) for the coat, hat and shoes, because there’s a sheet which has an animal print design. I think it’s giraffe skin! Whatever it is, it worked brilliantly. For the cat I used a Crumb Cake design from Tranquil Textures. I stamped the two images on the top layer of Whisper White Cardstock (CS) first. Next I stamped two cats on the Tranquil Textures DSP, and then the lady on the Animal Expedition DSP, as well as on the white felt. Please note that the felt isn’t a Stampin’ Up! product; it was something I had in my stash from my pre-SU days!
As usual I had to change the cat’s eyes because I thought she looked rather snooty! By the time I had finished working on her, she looks very frendly. After I had finished paper piecing the cat, I used some Marker Pens to add a bit of colour to her. I used Powder Pink for her nose and inside her ears, and Calypso Coral for her collar. I also gave her white eyes which was probably the fiddliest part of this card. I wouldn’t blame you if you decided to stick with the brown eyes! LOL!
I’m exceptionally pleased with the finished card as the felt collar, cuffs, and hat cuff are very soft and very tactile! In the video I show the paper piecing “fur” I’d cut out using Fun Foam. It looked hilarious! The poor lady looked like she was being swallowed up by her coat!! The foam was 1/8″ thick, which doesn’t sound overly thick, but it was!
Tomorrow, finally sees the start of the new Spring/Summer Catalogue and Sale-a-bration! Yay!! That’s about it from me today. I’ll be back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx

I have never cared for this set, but you have made her look so adorable. I would not have thought to paper pierce her. It makes all the difference.
Hi, Sandra. I like most cardmaking techniques, but paper piecing is one of my favourites. I posted another one to my blog today! Happy crafting, JanB. xx
HI Jan love this card a great idea for the fur trim and paper piecing , not sure if i could cut as well as you but something to try a great video thank you .jean x
Hi, Jean. You don’t need to be perfect with paper piecing. As long as you cover your stamped base image, and cover any gaps, you’re good to go! Happy crafting, JanB. xx
I have this set and used it but yours is so much gorgeous. You are so clever at fussy cutting. Happy New Year to you and yours.
Hi, Lynda. I’m glad you like this project, and really hope you give it a try! Happy crafting, JanB. xx
