Hello, Crafters.
I don’t think I’ve ever had so much trouble making a card as I had with today’s card! As you know, I’m like a dog with a bone, and once I’ve started something, I just cannot let it go. I achieved what I wanted eventually, but it took me NINE attempts! My plan was simple i.e. frog sitting on tree trunk which is in water! I’m not going to bore you with what went wrong, just how to get it to go correctly, because I think it’s a very creative way of combining different stamp sets!
The frog is from the Sale-a-bration stamp set called So Hoppy Together. From the three different frogs in the set, I chose the one that was sitting on his own. I positioned him so that the top of his head was in the middle of the top layer, on the right-hand side. Next I made a mask for the frog using a Post It Note. I adhered the mask over the frog, and then stamped the tree trunk. Thr trunk is from the Hedgehugs Stamp Set, and I stamped it using Soft Suede Ink. Then I made a mask for the trunk using a Post It Note, which I adhered over the stamped image. Finally I used the water stamp from the Lilypad Lake Stamp set. I stamped it in Balmy Blue Ink around the base of the tree trunk. I said it was easy! LOL!
I coloured the frog using Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive Marker Pens. I wasn’t sure what colour to use for the mouth, so I used my Powder Pink Marker Pen. Big mistake! It looked really silly! I decided to go over the pink with my Soft Sea Foam Marker Pen. I have no idea what this new colour is, but it looks good! I stamped the dragonfly (?) flying above the frog. I coloured him using Mossy Meadow, Mint Macaroon and Soft Sea Foam Marker Pens. I added googly eyes to both images as these are fun characters.
The panel on the left-hand side is from the Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). The layer underneath is Pear Pizzazz, and I wrapped a piece of Pear Pizzazz Shimmer Ribbon around before adhering the layers to the card base. I added a faux “bow” to the ribbon. For the card base and the right-hand panel I used our gorgeous Shimmery White Cardstock (CS). To decorate the inside of the card I added a layer of Pear Pizzazz CS, and a top layer of Shimmery White CS. I stamped a dragonfly in the bottom right-hand corner, and coloured him the same as the dragonfly on the front of the card.
As you can see, there isn’t anything difficult about this card, so I can only assume my creative juices didn’t get as far as my hands yesterday! LOL! That’s about it for today. At lunch time today, I’m going out with a group of “ladies who lunch” from my “new” church. This is the first time I have joined them, and I’m really looking forward to having a chance to know them better! That’s about it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, with a far less challenging card! In the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Jan, your card is terrific, I love it, please don’t be hard on yourself, I think we’ve all had projects like this and totally understand what you went thru, keep up the great videos, I love them all especially the way you take us step by step and explain everything so clearly. I never have a hard time following your instructions. Thanks for all the many great videos you’ve done and I look forward to future one.
Hi, Majorie. I’m pleased you like this card. Fortunately, it’s not often I struggle as much as I did with this card! I’m so pleased you enjoy my style of tutorials, and I really appreciate your support – many thanks. Happy crafting, JanB. xx
Good Evening from Melbourne, Australia, Jan. Lovely card but I am disappointed in that you are being so hard on yourself. Jan, you are an amazing crafter and such an inspiration to me as I now class myself an Advanced Beginner thanks to you and your videos. Love this card and hope you do a video on it. Love your videos and I so admire you. XX Mal, Melbourne, Australia.
Hi, Mal. Many thanks for your very kind words. My blog must have come across more frustrated than I actually felt! And I apologise for that! xx I think it’s important that I let everyone know that I have off days, too! And I hope my openness offers reassurance to everyone that we all have off days! Hubby thinks the same as you, i.e. I should make a video of this. So I’ve put it on my list, and will have a play! I hope you have a very blessed Sunday, and happy crafting. JanB. xx
Morning Jan. Please don’t apologise and yes, it is “lovely” to see my tutor get frustrated with a project like I sometimes do but Jan, this project is just lovely. Blessings: Mal
Hi, Mal. I like crafters to know I have bad days, too! LOL! I also like crafters to know it’s normal to make boo boos! ☺ Happy crafting, JanB. xx
