Hello, Crafters.
I was so excited to share this video with you. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until I played the video back that I realised the real beauty of this technique isn’t visible! Fortunately it shows up very well in most of these photographs! This card was originally inspired by a card we did at Team Training on Sunday, which in turn had been inspired by a card in our Success Magazine. The original card used the Butterfly Duet Punch, and the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set. For my cards I used the Little Elephant Stamp Set, and the Elephant Builder Punch! The elephants are available as a bundle in the Annual Catalogue on page 91. This means if you buy the two together you save 10% off the price! To create the Blushing Bride and Balmy Blue cards I used a Dauber to sponge the edges of the elephants and their ears. While I was working on the blue card in the video, I said this is what really takes the time making this card. I also said it would be a lot quicker if left white, but I didn’t know what it would look like! When I was waiting for my video to be uploaded onto YouTube, I made the Smokey Slate card without sponging the elephants and the ears. I think it looks great but I can’t make up my mind which way I prefer! How about you?
I did consider using a different embossing folder, but I couldn’t decide on one that was as “subtle” as this one. When I’m working on designs, I’m happy experimenting as long as I think I’m in with a good chance of success. I’m really pleased with both today’s card and the technique. Using a punch is an easy option, but not the only one! Die cut images would work equally as well. They would certainly give your arm uscles a good work out!
Receiving the Success Magazine is just one of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. The magazine is full of ideas, projects, hints and tips. I often have a look through if I want to use a particular stamp set but cannot come up with any ideas! It’s extremely rare that I don’t change things around to put my own spin on projects!
Until 31st March 2019 Stampin’ Up! is offering two super options for new people joining during Sale-a-bration. If you’d like to receive your own copy of this magazine, why not join my team? I’ll be thrilled to welcome you onboard as a discount shopper or a business builder. The choice really is yours! Please email me at janb@janbcards.com, and I’ll be pleased to explain everything to you. You have so much to gain and nothing to lose!
That’s about it from me today. I look forward to being back with you on Thurday. In the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx
I love them all. But, I think the sponging adds a little more to the card. Inky hugs,
Terry ~~
Hi, Terry. I agree with you! I prefer the sponged elephants for the same reason! I’m really pleased you like this project. Happy crafting, JanB. xx
Beautiful cards – I loved the ones that you coloured the best but the smoky slate one showed off the embossing better.
Hi, Lynette. I’m pleased you like this project. I think most of us prefer the sponged elephants best! It certainly makes the elephants pop that much more! Happy crafting, JanB. xx
Jan, I think they are all beautiful… but I do like the sponged elepants… Thank you so much for sharing..
Many thanks, Bernice. I agree. I think it really shows off the beauty of this technique! Happy crafting, JanB. xx
