Hello, Crafters.
Hubby started a cold three weeks ago, and he seemed to be getting better. When he arrived home from work yesterday evening, he really was in a sorry state. I think his cold has finally worked its way onto his chest! It was straight to bed for him with a couple of paracetamol, and a hot water bottle. As soon as the doctor’s surgery opens this morning I’m going to get him an emergency appointment to see one of the doctors today!
To create today’s card, I used the Around the Corner Stamp Set for the first time. I chose Tranquil Tide and Berry Burst for my colours, and my first attempt was with a 3″ x 3″ square of Whisper White Cardstock (CS). This didn’t work because I stamped so close to the edge that I didn’t have room to stamp the flowers. I turned the square over and tried again, but I couldn’t get all four corners lined up properly! This may have been because I hadn’t cut a true square. At this point I decided to use my Stamparatus to get the stamps straight. First of all, I used my trimmer to make sure I cut my square a perfect 3″ x 3″, and them tried stamping again! Whatever I tried to do I just wasn’t getting it right! I decided I needed a Plan B and moved on! As squares weren’t working, I decided to try a rectangle i.e. a regular sized top layer. Still using the Stamparatus, I put the large stamp and the small stamp in place on one side of the rectangle. After inking both the stamps in Tranquil Tide Ink, I stamped. I needed to re-stamp one small area, and once I’d done it, it was looking really good! After I’d turned the rectangle 180°, I re-inked and re-stamped on the second side of the rectangle. It looked super!
Using Berry Burst Ink, I stamped the flowers freehand. Next I coloured the flowers using the two step infill stamp, with Berry Burst Ink which I’d stamped off once. Now that I was happy with the outside of the rectangle, I needed a centre piece. I chose the Piece of Cake Stamp Set which I have used several times already. I stamped the Happy Birthday Cake twice – once in Tranquil Tide and once in Berry Burst – and I also stamped one cake stand in Tranquil Tide. Using the Cake Builder Punch, I punched all three images out. I also cut both parts of each cake apart. I wanted the cake to read Happy Happy Birthday, with the colour alternating between the layers. The cake needed to be a taller, so I decided to add some candles. I stamped the first candles in position using Crushed Curry Ink, but that was a big mistake….it looked horrible! Stamping them in Tranquil Tide made a huge difference!
I put my card together, and added a Berry Burst CS die cut bow – from Bouquet Bunch Framelits Dies – to the cake stand. To finish the front I added two Basic Rhinestones in opposite corners and one in the centre of the bow. Inside the card I added a layer of Berry Burst CS and a layer of Whisper White CS, with the same small stamp I used on the front of my card. I will be sad to see these two colours leaving us in June! Anyway, that’s about it from me today. Now I’m off to get Hubby sorted out! I hope you have a terrific Tuesday and until tomorrow, happy crafting.

Some days are like that aren’t they? Thanks for sharing your wonderful card and the inky pain that got you there. You’ve inspired some experiments of my own now. Get well wishes for your hubby and you stay well too.
Blessings – Jean
Hi, Jean. I love experimenting! Fortunately, it doesn’t often work out to be as frustrating as it was an this occasion! LOL! Many thanks for your good wishes for Hubby. He’s on antibiotics now, so I’m sure he’ll be as right as rain in no time now! Happy crafting, JanB. xx
