Hello, Crafters.
When I first started working with this stamp set yesterday I really struggled! Once I’d started stamping, I was off and running! Now I’m looking at the other flowers in the set and can’t wait to have a play with them! My initial thoughts about this stamp set are that this set is ideal for newbie crafters, because it’s only stamping that’s needed, there isn’t any colouring. This is why I think I struggled initially, but once I started thinking outside the box, I was enjoying myself! Although there isn’t a right or wrong way to use these stamps, the initial idea the designer had – I imagine – is that the large bowl shaped flower should go on top of the long green stem I used, and the smaller bowl shaped flower should go on top of the smaller stem!
For my design I decided to put two small bowl-shaped flowers on the long stem, and I think it has worked well! I wasn’t happy that there weren’t any sepals at the base of the petals. To remedy this, I made my own from the smaller green stem I’d stamped but not used! The flowers now look complete. The image has been adhered to a layer of Night of Navy Cardstock (CS). I stamped the small spotty stamp randomly around the flower using Night of Navy Ink. Next I built my card base starting with Whisper White CS. Next I added a layer of Night of Navy CS.
When I first started designing this card I wanted to use the Calypso Coral flower design from the Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper (DSP). It’s been my favourite design ever since I first saw it, but when I put my stamped image with it, it didn’t look right! I decided to go with the Calypso Coral and Night of Navy stripe design. I cut the DSP so the strips were horizontal. The sentiment is from the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set, and was stamped straight onto the DSP, using Night og Navy Ink. I finished the front of my card by tying some Night of Navy Baker’s Twine around the image. Using my Dark Night of Navy Stampin’ Blend, I painted three Basic Pearls and adhered them in the top right-hand corner.
I decorated the inside of my card by adhering a layer of Night of Navy CS, and a top layer of Whisper White CS. There were two flowers sitting on my desk, so I used them to decorate the bottom right-hand corner. Definitely a Topsy card……….it just grew! LOL! That’s it from me today. I’m off to the hairdressers this morning, and then back home to make my customer Thank You Cards. I wish you a fabulous Friday and look forward to being back with you tomorrow! In the meantime, happy crafting.
