Hello, Crafters.
I’m pleased to say that Hubby is making progress, albeit rather slowly! I know he’s getting better because he’s complaining about being bored! It’s no good asking him to join me with some crafting……………..it’s just not on his radar! But he is an ideas man! I have an excellent idea from him for a card tomorrow! Yesterday was the the first time I used the Serene Garden Stamp Set, and I did find it a bit of a challenge. I wanted to include the bird, but there wasn’t room for him once I’d stamped the main image.
As you know, I’m not much of a colourer, and as such, I find it difficult to colour images that have large clear areas, like the large flower head. I was creating this card yesterday afternoon and I had plenty of time to concentrate on what I was doing. So I took my time and slowly, slowly it all came together. My colours are Granny Apple Green and Powder Pink, and I used Stampin’ Write Markers. After I had finished colouring the main image and the large flower, I couldn’t decide what to do next. There was too much plain background, and I decided to use a backgound stamp. There were two that I thought could be suitable i.e. Marbled, and Crackle Paint. My colour choice was Soft Sea Foam, and I knew it needed to be stamped off once. I tested both stamps on scrap paper, and Crackle Paint was the outright winner! It’s amazing what a difference using a background stamp, stamped off once, makes to a card! The large expense of emptiness had been filled!
At this point I gave up trying to find a place for the bird, and started looking for a sentiment! Using Granny Apple Green Ink I stamped HAPPY BIRTHDAY which is from the Southern Serenade Stamp Set. It’s a great size and fitted the Tailored Tag Punch beautifully. I layered it on some Powder Pink Cardstock. To decorate each end of the sentiment, I stamped the single flower on the three flower stamp, twice. After colouring them both with Powder Pink Markers, I adhered them each end of the sentiment.
To decorate the inside of the card, I stamped and coloured the small flower image that has three leaves, in the bottom right-hand corner of a layer of Whisper White Cardstock. Then I used the Crackle Paint Background Stamp in the same way I did on the front of my card. I adhered the Whisper White layer to a layer of Powder Pink Cardstock and then onto the base of my card! I painted all the flowers using my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen. It’s very disappointing it doesn’t show up in photographs, because in real life, it looks gorgeous!
That’s it from me today. I hope you have a terrific Thursday, and until tomorrow, happy crafting.
