Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday I played with the Doily Builder Thinlits Dies for the first time. There are nine dies in this set, including five different doilies. I used some retired Marina Mist cardstock to die cut all the doilies. They’re all very pretty, and come in different sizes. I think having dies for doilies is a lot more versatile than having ready-made doilies. I particularly like the one I used to create today’s card. The die cut’s out the centre, but both pieces can still be used together. This means it can be used as a wreath like on today’s card, or the centre can be inserted back into the centre, so it’s a solid doily!
The image of the two mice is from the Sweet Storybook Stamp Set, which is a two-step stamping set. I stamped the image in Soft Suede Ink, and used the the colour infill stamp in Soft Suede Ink stamped off once. As you probably know, I don’t like images of animals, or people that have closed eyes! I used the pen tip of my Soft Suede Marker Pen, to draw open eyes on to the mice! So much nicer!! I die cut the image using the matching set of dies called Storybook Scene.
I coloured the few blades of grass using my Granny Apple Green Marker Pen. I chose the sentiment from the Wonderful Romance Stamp Set, and stamped it using Crumb Cake Ink. Originally I layered it onto a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock (CS). I trimmed it off because it couldn’t be seen against the Basket Weave embossed top layer. To finish the front of the card, I adhered three flower sequins from the Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins. The colour of the sequins is Lemon Lime Twist, but matches the Granny Apple Green grass beautifully!
I stamped another image of the mice using the same colours as the image on the front of the card. After I had adhered a layer each of Whisper White and Crumb Cake CS, I added the mice, and adhered two of the flower sequins. I’m planning on having another play with the other doilies, and and also the stamp set! Watch this space! That’s about it for today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
