Hello, Crafters.
Did you celebrate Valentine’s Day yesterday? We normally have a special dinner at home. Just by way of a change I made Hubby a Valentine’s card. I wanted to use the Love You To Pieces Stamp Set, and the Puzzle Pieces Framelits Dies. In the end I didn’t use the stamp set, just the dies. I used the Lovely Lipstick heart design from the All My Love Designer Series Paper (DSP) for the background. The card base is Whisper White Cardstock (CS) with the first layer is Lovely Lipstick.
I used the heart puzzle die as my main image, and die cut a second heart in Lovely Lipstick. The latter die cut I used as a layer for the DSP heart. I dry-embossed a square of Whisper White CS using the Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder. To give the square a bit of added interest, I die cut it using the largest square from the Stitched Shape Framelits Dies. By sheer luck I had placed the die exactly in the middle of the cardstock square which produced a narrow even frame! I certainly couldn’t have done that if I’d tried! LOL!
I adhered the frame and square back together, and mounted it on the DSP layer using Dimensionals. I took a very plain Lovely Lipstick design from the DSP, and cut a strip that’s half an inch wide. After I had flagged both the ends I adhered it to the Whisper White square. Next I adhered the heart in place using Dimensionals. I adhered Hubby’s initial in the centre – initial of my pet name for him! – in the centre of the heart. When I’m doing personal cards like this I use a retired set of Stampin Up! letter dies!
I put a scrap of Lovely Lipstick CS into a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet. Next I used it to die cut LOVE YOU, which is from the Well Written Framelit Dies. After I had adhered them to the bottom of the top layer, I painted them with my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen. To decorate the inside of the card, I adhered another die cut puzzle heart. Finally I took a small piece of the heart DSP and adhered it to a piece of white card. Using the pzzle die, I made a 16-piece puzzle, which I put in a cello bag inside Hubby’s card! See photo above on right-hand side.
After we had eaten dinner yesterday evening, I gave Hubby his card! He gave a very quizzical look at the little packet that was in the card. I explained what it was, and told him I was timing him! He’s a great sport when it comes to things like this, always willing to join in! I won’t embarrass him by saying how long it took him to do the puzzle (I know he’ll be reading this!). All I can say is that I’m glad I didn’t use the Crackle Paint Stamp for the puzzle picture!
That’s about it from me today. I look forward to be back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx
