Hello, Crafters.
Today’s card is totally way out of my comfort zone, but I saw it, liked it, and made it! After a non-stop day yesterday, I wanted some inspiration for today’s card! I logged onto Pinterest, but didn’t know which stamp set to do a search on. I was just scrolling down aimlessly, and saw this card! So not me, but I love it. I don’t really understand how to work out who did what on Pinterest if there isn’t a watermark on the photograph! After trying to make sure I had the facts straight, I believe the photograph was posted by Geri Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada. It appears the card was made by Geri’s friend Bev of Happy Dance! I hope I have the details correct!
The clouds were made in different designs of paper. I wanted to use the same design for all the clouds. The easy solution was make the Blushing Bride card in three different designs of paper and then the Balmy Blue card using one design. I didn’t think one card looked better than the other but I’m glad I did the comparison.
The first card I made was in Blushing Bride. I decided to use the cloud die from the Up and Away Thinlits Dies, and the Tropical Escape Design Series Paper (DSP). After die cutting three colour clouds, I also die cut 18 using Thick Whisper White Cardstock. I used Tombow to adhere them together in three equal stacks. Next I die cut five hearts in different designs using a die from the Apron Builder Framelits Dies. I also die cut five more in Thick Whisper White Cardstock to layer the coloured hearts on.
Next I embossed the top Whisper White layer using the Dynamic Subtle Embossing Folder. I adhered short strips of pink Baker’s Twine behind the clouds as shown. Then I put a small dimensional where the heart was going to be adhered and attached the other end of the Baker’s Twine. I put some Tombow on top of the Dimensional and the end of the Baker’s Twine. Next I adhered the heart on top. The sentiment is from the Baby Bear Stamp Set. I inked the stamp in Versamark, then in Blushing Bride Ink. I wiped over a piece of Whisper White Cardstock with mu Embossing Buddy, and stamped the sentiment. I dipped it in Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it. I die cut the sentiment using the smallest of the slim Rectangle Stitched Framelits dies. This was mounted on five more die cut labels using the Thick Whisper White Cardstock.
When I first saw this card on Pinterest, I thought it was going to be a quick and easy card. It was definitely easy but nowhere near quick! I still think it’s a great design, and I love the card – I hope you do too! I’m about to shoot off for my bi-annual mammagram. When I get back I’ll be working on the project I hope is going to be my video on Sunday – if all goes well! I hope you have a terrific Thursday, and until I’m back with you tomorrow, happy crafting.
