Hello, Crafters.
I hope you had a great weekend; as usual, it was over far too quickly! I decided to make a masculine card to share with you today. The Geared Up Garage Stamp Set is great for masculine cards on several levels. There is a great selection of dies, a lovely stamp set, and some fabulous Designer Series Paper (DSP) called Classic Garage DSP. It’s a pack of 6″ x 6″ sheets. My card design was inspired by a card I saw on Facebook, on Stampin’ Demos Worldwide last November, posted by Katja Martins.
The colour I chose to use is Tranquil Tide because it’s one of the colours that’s retiring on 3rd June 2019. The top layer of my card has been embossed with the Subtles Dynamic Embossing Folder. Between this layer and the car, there’s a layer of Whisper White Cardstock (CS), plus three layers of different designs from the DSP. I die cut six cars from scraps of Basic Black CS, and adhered them altogether, one on top of the other. This has become one of my favourite techniques recently. I like how it makes the image really solid.
On Katja’s photograph on Facebook, there were two identical cards. The only difference was that one had a black sentiment on the card front, and on the other card the black sentiment was on Whisper White cardstock. This one was popped up on Dimensionals. I liked the first card best. I couldn’t do the sentiment directly onto the top cardstock layer because I had embossed it.
There are five sentiments to choose from in this stamp set, and chose ALL GEARED UP TO CELEBRATE because I thought this would suit various different occasions. After wiping a strip of Tranquil Tide CS with my Embossing Buddy, I inked up the stamp in Versamark ink. My first attempt wasn’t very straight so I tried again! After I had heat emboss it, I layered it onto a piece of DSP which was the same design as above; the one on the Whisper White CS.
To finish my card I added a layer of Whisper White on the inside. I die cut another car from my pack of DSP, and adhered it in the bottom right hand corner. I’m very pleased with my finished card. Many thanks for the inspiration, Katja – it’s a beautiful design!
That’s it from me today. I hope you have a marvellous Monday, nad Ilook forward to being Back with yo tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx
