Hello, Crafters.
I hope you’ve been successful in securing yourself some crafty bargains from the Clearance Rack! Did you remember to checkout the Last Chance Products while you were shopping? The stamp set I’ve used for today’s card is going to retire on 3rd June! I’ve enjoyed using this set several times. As a general rule, I find the larger the image, the bigger the challenge to use it in lots of different ways. On the other hand, a large image is normally very striking, as is today’s large rose image.
There are six new Stampin’ Blends colour combos in the new catalogue. Four of them are new in-colours, including the pink Rococo Rose. The more I use the Blends, the more I like them, but at the moment I don’t feel there’s much of a choice with pinks – hence my excitement about Rococo Rose! I used Poppy Parade for the flowers on yesterday’s card, so I decided I’d like to use a pastel colour today. My only choice was Petal Pink, which is a coral-type pink. The advantage of this is that I was able to use the fabulous Variegated Ribbon which is amazingly soft.
I started my card by stamping the large rose image using my Stamparatus. Fortunately I had saved a Post It Note mask I had made for a previous project, so no fussy cutting needed today! LOL! I covered my stamped image with the mask, and then I stamped the trellis image to the right of the rose, and lower down. This was stamped using Grey Granite, and the Stamparatus! There was rather a lot of white card exposed, but there isn’t a stamp in the set for me to use as a random pattern. I sorted this out by using the Grey Granite Stampin’ Write Marker Pen, and drew the dots manually!
The final part I needed was a sentiment, and I had two in this stamp set to choose from. The sentiment I didn’t use says “for you”, which I felt was too small. I used the larger sentiment which says “I adore you”, and cut around the shape of the text. This kept the sentiment to the smallest size possible. I’m really pleased with how the sentiment looks on my card – visible but without distracting from the rose which I wanted to be the prominent feature!
To decorate the inside of the card, I stamped the smaller rose stamp which is in the stamp set. I painted it using the same colours as the large rose on the front. It’s a great stamp set, and I’ve had a lot of pleasure using it! That’s about it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx
