Hello, Crafters.
It’s so easy to use three stamp sets without trying! Start with the main stamp set for the image, then a background stamp and thirdly a sentiment! I wanted to use the tulip stamp in the In Every Season Stamp Set. When I first saw this set, I thought I’d be using it all the time, but this is just my second time! There are twelve different line drawings – one flower for every month of the year – and they look great for colouring. I certainly enjoyed colouring the tulips five times yesterday, but today was just the second time; that was three for the card front, one for inside and one for the bin! LOL!
My first attempt at colouring was using the Stampin’ Write Marker Pens. It was too easy to go over the edges! For the second attempt I changed to Stampin’ Blends. Although not perfect, it was definitely a lot easier. One area I painted, but which I shouldn’t have done, was between the first and second leaves (starting from the left-hand side). I decided to turn my “mistake” into “planned” painting, but forgot to do the one inside the card. It has been corrected now, but at the time I took the photographs, the gap was very visible!!
The colours I used for painting are Dark Granny Apple Green, and Dark Real Red. I punched the tulips out using the punch that is part of the Darling Label Punch Box. It fits onto a 1 3/8″ cardstock square perfectly! Fortunately, I kept the 1 3/8″ Square Punch when it retired from our catalogue two or three years ago! Next I needed a sheet of black and white Designer Series Paper (DSP) for the background. In the Botanical Butterfly DSP, I found a black sheet with white butterflies, and a black gingham design, but they weren’t suitable.
That left me with one option, which was to create my own by using a background stamp, and heat embossing white on Basic Black Cardstock! I chose to use the Crackle Paint Background Stamp and it worked brilliantly! Neither of the stamp sets I’d used so far had any sentiments. I checked my reference file, and chose one from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set. Finally, I painted over all the flowers, the sentiment border, and the red corners on the images with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.
That’s about it from me today. I hope you have a fabulous Friday, and until I’m back with you tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB. xx
