Hello, Crafters. I’ve just seen that my post for Tuesday, didn’t publish! I had an amazingly busy day yesterday, getting ready to go to Telford for my team Craft Day on Friday and OnStage Convention on Saturday. I’m publishing the Tuesday post today, and will be back tomorrow. Happy crafting, JanB. xx
Hello, Crafters.
To create today’s card, I heat embossed the images using White Embossing Powder. I didn’t use my Embossing Buddy over my Basic Black Cardstock (CS) layer before I started. This is because I don’t like being able to see the white “haze” it leaves behind! My alternative is to wipe over it with a sheet of kitchen towel. I really don’t know whether this makes any difference or not! When I looked at my card after I had finished making it, I felt quite pleased at how few unwanted “speckles” there were. That is, until I started editing my photographs and getting se ups! There appeared to be masses of speckles! LOL!Today’s card was inspired by a swap I received from Arden Dougan of the Aartvarks Studio. I assume I received this on the Alaskan Cruise Incentive Trip last summer. Details on the back of the swap show Arden’s email address is @comcast.com, which I thought was from the US. I visited Arden’s website and yes, she’s from Alexandria, VA. Arden used a base of Lovely Lipstick CS then a layer of Basic Black CS and a top layer of Lovely Lipstick CS. She had stamped the images in black ink and popped the bird up on Dimensionals. Arden had used the JUST A NOTE sentiment from the Wishing You Well Stamp Set. I chose HAPPY BIRTHDAY from the Balloon Celebration Stamp Set.
Arden’s card looked beautiful, and apart from the sentiment and colour, I had no intention of changing anything. I started preparing the cardstock I was going to use, which was Coastal Cabana and Basic Black. As I was doing this, I decided I’d heat emboss in black rather than stamping, and one thought led to another, and I decided on white heat embossing on black cardstock. I think having the bird popped up on Dimensionals, adds so much to this card, and makes it really stand out! To decorate the inside of the card I added a layer of Whisper White CS. In the bottom left hand corner, I adhered a second bird I had heat embossed at the same time as the rest of the heat embossing. Many thanks for the swap, Arden – it’s gorgeous! That’s it from me today. I’ll be back with you tomorrow morning, and in the meantime, happy crafting.

Lovely card. I really like heat embossing.
