Hello, Crafters.
I created today’s poppies using the Floral Essence Stamp Set. It wasn’t until I had cleaned my stamps and was putting them away that I realised I had used the wrong centre stamp for the larger poppy! At least that’s one of those mistakes I’ll only make once, and I don’t think it looks too bad! When I decided to create the flowers as poppies I was going to use black for the centres, but I decided on Night of Navy because I sometimes think the centres are more navy than black. It worked out well because I didn’t have any Designer Series Paper (DSP) in black and white that hadn’t retired!
The Night of Navy spot design is from the Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP pack from last year. You’ve probably heard me say before that the designs in this years packs is much nicer than last year. I’m trying to use up my last year’s packs before ordering the new designs, but I don’t know how long I can hold out! I particularly like the new script design!
To create the poppies I stamped some large and some small flowers using Real Read Ink. Next I stamped the inside of each flower with Night of Navy Ink. I wasn’t particularly happy with the leaves in the stamp set, and decided to use two of the leaf stamps in the To A Wild Rose Stamp Set. I stamped out four sets of leaves, and rejected one because I didn’t like the way it turned out. I found I achieved better results by stamping the infill stamp (the one with the slight stem) first, and then the outline stamp. Then I spent some very relaxing time fussy cutting all the poppies and the leaves. If you don’t like fussy cutting, this card is definitely not for you…………..there aren’t any coordinating dies.
I chose one of the sentiments from the stamp set and stamped it in Night of Navy Ink. All the images and the sentiment were adhered to the front of the card with Dimensionals, after I had painted the poppies and leaves with my Clear Wink of Stella Gliiter Pen. I finished the front of the card by scattering some Basic Rhinestones around the bunch of poppies.
Inside the card I added a layer of Whisper White Cardstock, and adhered a small poppy and two leaves in the bottom right-hand corner. Overall I’m pleased with today’s card, but I would prefer the colours not to spread when I use my Wink of Stella Glitter Pen!
Yesterday morning, about an hour after my cleaner had finished, and had gone on to her next client, I went into the bedroom to get my medication. This is what I found on our bed! I was just blown away by her thoughtfulness, as well as her attention to detail! She had put one red heart in each of the creases of each swans’ tail feathers, and the hearts were all the right way round!
That’s it from me today. I hope you have a fabulous Friday, and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
