Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday I felt I was back to normal after my fabulous wedding on Saturday! My day was speny playing catch-up! When it came to deciding which stamp set to use for today’s card, I didn’t have a clue where to start. I chose Inspiring Iris because I enjoy two-step stamping, and the three main images in this set are my favourite kind!
To colour the irises I chose Pool Party, with Granny Apple Green for the leaves. After stamping the main iris image using Stazon Ink, I changed over to the infill stamp. Fortunately, I always stamp the first image onto scrap paper; the image was atrocious! It looked as if my ink pad was well and truly over-inked! Rather than spend time scrapping off the excess, I decided to use my old ink pad, but the same thing happened again! Not to be beaten, I tried the original ink pad I’d bought in March 2012 when I first became a demo! It worked a treat!
I decided I shouldn’t be lazy, and scraped off the excess using a gift card. I’m really hoping that next time I want to use Pool Party Ink, I won’t have the same problem! My next disappointment was how the infill colour was very random! I persevered and used Granny Apple Green ink for the leaves and stems, and the colour looked even worse! I decided to die cut the image so I could compare it with the second image!
For my second image, I used Memento Ink, and then coloured the flowers and leaves using Dark Daffodil Delight, Light and Dark Pool Party and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. Next I used Daubers with Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green Inks to soften the stark Whisper White background. I die cut the image using one of the Stitched Nested Labels Dies. The sentiment is from the same stamp set, and I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I used a much smaller Stitched Nested Labels Die, and then played around with the arrangement until I was happy!
My base card is in Pool Party Cardstock (CS), followed by a layer of Whisper White CS which I’d embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. The designs in this years 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) Packs, are, in my opinion much better than last years designs. Unfortunately, I have lots left over in all the colour families from last year I can’t justify ordering more just because I prefer the designs! However, I did allow myself to get one pack – Subtles – which includes Pool Party! YAY! The script design is my favourite!
I stamped, painted and punched out two butterflies from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set. After I assembled the front of the card, I added some retired Thick Pool Party Baker’s Twine, and some Basic Pearls. My final touch was painting the flowers with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. Finally, I added a layer of Whisper White CS inside the card, and added a single iris stem that I’d stamped, painted and fussy cut to match the front image. I wanted to give you the opportunity to see the irises painted with Blends as well as the infill stamps, which I adhered to the back of my main card using repositional tape!

Finally, Stampin’ Up! have recently released several short videos, showing how to and/or different ways to use new products that are available in the 2019 – 2020 Annual Catalogue. I appreciate not everyone likes to watch videos, but these are short and sweet! I’ll try to post one each day.
That’s it from me today, and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
