Hello, Crafters.
I had a lovely surprise when I opened my emails yesterday morning. One of my customers asked if she could buy the Over the Moon card I shared yesterday. I was very pleased to let her know yes she could. What an excellent way to start a day!
About a month ago I had an email from a crafter in Australia. She had attached a photograph of a card and asked if I could show how it’s made. The photograph showed the card closed, but not what it looked like when it’s open. When I first received the request I did some investigating but I couldn’t find any instructions how this card is made! Yesterday I decided to make a very concerted effort, and eventually found what I was looking for! I made the card, and decided it’ll be great for this weekend’s video! It’s easy to make but takes a lot of decorating. If anything holds me up, it’ll be deciding how to do this! I have a plan, so fingers crossed it works out!
To create today’s card I used the Rare Blessings Stamp Set. This is another image I’ve been itching to paint since I first clapped eyes on it; and it didn’t disappoint! Like yesterday, I used Shimmery White Cardstock (CS), and stamped the image using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I used my Light and Dark Granny Apple Green, Light and Dark Highland Heather, and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends! To fill in some of the blank space I used a small stamp from the Painted Harvest Stamp Set. Up till this point I had been using a full sized layer of Shimmery White CS, but I used the small dotted stamp too much. To remedy this I cut my layer down to a much more sensible size. Although I had used Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends, I chose Georgous Grape CS for the second layer. I spitzed the layer with water and then embossed it with the Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder.
Note: yesterday afternoon I received an email from Stampin’ Up! telling me the new 3D Embossing Plates are back in stock. As soon as I read the email, I stopped what I was doing, and placed my order! I’m so looking forward to being able to use my 3D Embossing Folders, especially Scripty!
I adhered my image layer to the Gorgeous Grape CS layer. Next, I tied a piece of our Gorgeous Grape Mini Striped ribbon around the layers, and tied a bow at the front. I punched the sentiment out using the Timeless Label Punch which I knew was going to be too big. To correct this, I positioned the punch as close to the end as possible. Next, I put the blank end back into the punch, lined it up, and punched. Perfect! Then I punched one out in Gorgeous Grape (CS). I cut it in half and cut about a quarter of an inch off altogether. Then I adhered two pieces to the back of the sentiment which now fits my design brilliantly.
I added small Basic Pearls in the centre of each small group of stamped dots, as well as three larger ones on the sentiment. To decorate the inside of the card, I adhered a layer of Shimmery White CS to a layer of Gorgeous Grape CS, and then inside the card. I stamped the small flower image from the Rare Blessings in the bottom right hand corner of the Shimmery White CS layer. Finally, I coloured it the same way I coloured the main image on the front.
That’s it from me today. I hope you have a fabulous Friday, and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
