Hello, Crafters.
I’m pleased to say that I’m making good progress with the swaps and customer thank you gifts and cards. Oh yes, and two videos! I need to have everything finished by Friday. Yesterday I decorated the 3D swaps I’ve made for the Incentive Trip. I chose the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set. The images in this stamp set are similar to those in the A Good Man and Petal Palette (retired) Stamp Sets. I find both of these sets are so easy to colour using our Stampin’ Blends. I will share the swaps with you after the trip. In the meantime I can tell you that I decorated each swap with two flowers the same as the one in the centre of today’s card.
I wasn’t sure how to paint the magnolias, so I went onto Pinterest to see how other crafters had done it. Nearly all the flowers had been painted in what I call a “relaxed” way! I used the Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend, and painted round the inside of all petal edges. The effect is amazing, and it inspired me to make today’s card! I’m finally beginning to like Petal Pink! Another colour I’ve never liked is Mossy Meadow, but put these two together and they look fabulous!
I decided to use a Mossy Meadow Cardstock (CS) card base, with a layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of Petal Pink CS. I cut a piece of Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper (DSP) about a quarter of the height of the card. I cut the bottom edge using the die from the Magnolia Memory Dies. Next I took a narrow strip of Mossy Meadow CS, and die cut the end to match the DSP.
I stamped three magnolias onto Whisper White CS, using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. After I had painted them as I described previously, I die cut two using the flower shaped die, and a Square Stitched Shape Framelit die for the third flower. This needed a layer, so I die cut a scalloped square in Mossy Meadow CS, using a die from the Layering Square Framelits Dies. I decided to adhere one of the die cut flowers on top of the flower in the square with Dimensionals, and added a Mossy Meadow Linen Thread bow to finish it off.
I chose the sentiment from the Accented Blooms Stamp Set; I love this font! To die cut it I used a die from the Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies that have been brought forward from last year. Next I die cut a label in Mossy Meadow CS, and offset it under the sentiment. After adhering it to the card front using Dimensionals, I added one Petal Pink Frosted Flower Embellishment at each end of the sentiment. I added some sparkle by adhering a small Basic Rhinestone in the centre of each flower.
To decorate the inside of the card I added a layer of Petal Pink CS, and then a layer of Whisper White CS. I used the third flower I’d made to decorate the inside of the card. The one thing that I think makes this card really stand out is the fancy cut edge of the DSP and the Mossy Meadow CS layer underneath it. Mind you, I love just about everything there is in the Good Morning Magnolia Suite! What is there not to love?
