This is my first play with the Lovely is the Day Stamp Set, which is a two-step stamp set, and has a set of matching dies called Lovely Leaves. I chose to paint the flowers freehand, just because I was in the mood for painting! I’ll do the two-step stamping another day. I didn’t have a plan for this card, and like Topsy, it just grew!
I chose to use Poppy Parade because I love red flowers, and I have a roll of Poppy Parade Ribbon I wanted to use! When I started, I stamped the image you see on today’s card as well as the single flower stem. I painted that flower in Rich Razzleberry, and will use it for another project. The double stitched dies, properly named Stitched Rectangles Dies, are my all time favourites – I love the effect they give!
This is the first time I’ve used the 3D Embossing Folder called Brick & Mortar. I’m really impressed with the depth of the embossing. It really is well worth treating yourself to the 3D Embossing Folder Plate, because I’m not sure you’d get the same result using shims. I’ll be very interested to know if anyone does feel they get excellent results with shims.
The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set, and has been stamped in Black Memento Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock (CS). I had also stamped the image with Black Memento Ink, and then painted it with Shaded Spruce and Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends. To soften the plain white background, I stamped over the image using the Birch Background Stamp inked with Soft Sea Foam Ink, and stamped off once.
I stamped the image on the top Whisper White CS layer, but positioned it so it was coming off the side and the bottom of the layer. After I painted it the same as the front of the card, I adhered it onto a layer of Poppy Parade CS, and adhered inside the card.
My finishing touch was to add three Basic Rhinestones in a downward line on the top left hand side of the image. I also added one at each end of the sentiment. That’s about it from me today. I hope you have a terrific Tuesday and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
