Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday I resurrected my Dazzling Diamonds to make the ice the walrus is sitting on, look sparkly just like ice really does. When we sold the Two-Way Glue Pen, way back when, I used to use Dazzling Diamonds on so many of my projects. It wasn’t until yesterday I realised how much I missed that sparkle! Which do you prefer – Dazzling Diamonds or Wink of Stella?
Do you remember earlier this year I said I had forty-five unused stamp sets? I made a big effort to use as many as possible before the new catalogue went live. I finished up with six unused, and I made a conscious decision I wouldn’t allow myself to get in that position again! As the new catalogue isn’t far away I decided to check what the current position is! I’m very pleased to say that I only have seventeen unused stamp sets! What a huge improvement!!
I used another new stamp set for today’s card, and it’s called We’ll Walrus Be Friends! These are the kind of images that are so easy to colour using our Stampin Blends. I also used the new 3D High Seas Embossing Folder. If you buy any of these 3D Embossing Folders, I really recommend you buy the 3D Embossing Folder Plate to make sure you get the best out of your embossing folders.
The stamp set has five different really charming walrus images. It was a struggle to decide which image to use, but I settled on the walrus on ice because it immeditely made me think of Dazzling Diamonds! There aren’t any dies to go with these images, but they are all very straight-forward to fussy cut. I used a Balmy Blue Cardstock (CS) card base, with layers of Whisper White and Balmy Blue CS.
The sentiment “Just floating by to say hi” is two lines on one stamp, but I wanted to use them as separate lines. To achieve this I covered one line with some tape, inked the stamp, removed the tape and stamped. I repeated this for the second line, and was then able to punch them individually using the Classic Label Punch. Both sentiments were too short for the length of the punched label. To cut them shorter, I put them back in the punch and cut off the excess.
To add a bit of interest in the sea, I stamped and fussy-cut three of the small fish, and yes they were very fiddly! As I was arranging, and re-arranging the various elements on the front of the card, I felt there was something missing. I didn’t want to tie a ribbon around the middle, because I wanted this to be a masculine card.
I chose to wrap a piece of the white ribbon with silver edging around, without adding a bow or a knot. The silver helps to accentuate the Dazzling Diamonds, and the white goes with the sentiments. A little alteration I made to the walrus was to open his eyes! One of the small fish also has closed eyes but I decided he was just too small to try it!
To decorate the inside of the card, I adhered a layer of Whisper White CS. Using Memento Ink I stamped four fish along the bottom, and painted them with the Light Smokey Slate Stampin’ Blend. This is a great stamp set and I’m really looking forward to using the other images!
That’s about it from me today. I hope you have a really super weekend, and I look forward to being back in the morning. In the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Many thanks, Doreen. I had forgotten how lovely they are. I think you’ll be seeing lots more from me from now on, especially when I start on Christmas cards! xx
This is the cutest card! Love it!
Many thanks, Deanette. xx
Love this card. I use Wink of Stella when I want just a subtle sparkle. Dazzling Diamonds is my go to when I want a bigger impactful sparkle.
Many thanks, La Rae. I agree. I tend to use Dazzling Diamonds most at Christmas! xx
