Hello, Crafters.
Over the last twelve months or so, my taste in stamp sets is definitely changing! At one time, I would never have given the Wiggle Worm Stamp Set a second glance! I had so much pleasure yesterday creating this card, I really surprised myself! It was only when I started playing that I realised all the different parts there are to the two-step stamping side of this card!
The card base is Balmy Blue Cardstock (CS), and I’ve paired it with some Balmy Blue and Whisper White Designer Series Paper (DSP) called Come Sail Away. I marked where my strip would come down to on the Whisper White CS. After spraying it with water, I put the CS inside the Bricks & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder (EF) as far as my pencil mark, and ran it through my Big Shot. It worked brilliantly.
I stamped the three bugs using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Whisper White CS. I used the Light & Dark Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends for the bugs wings and bodies. For the two bugs at either end of my line up, there was choice of stamps to decorate the bodies. The alternatives were a line of the letter V for the left-hand side bug and some hearts for the bug on the right-hand side.
There was only one stamp for the bug in the middle and I have to confess, I found it a challenge! It took me five attempts before I was successful in getting it all inside the outline. The problem area for me was getting all the pattern inside the wings. I used the Ivory Stampin’ Blend for their faces and the Bronze Stampin’ Blend for their mouths.
To stop my bugs from floating in mid-air, I grounded them by stamping some grass in Pear Pizzazz Ink. The stamp I used is from the Enjoy Life Stamp Set, and left some small bald patches in the grass because I could only use the top of the stamp. I used the Light Old Olive Stampin’ Blend to fill in the gaps with short straight lines that looked like grass! LOL!
I added the DSP on the smooth area of the Whisper White CS, and adhered a thin Strip of Balmy Blue CS to give it a finished look. After I had adhered the bugs with Dimensionals, I created the Happy Birththday Sentiment. The stamp is from the Wiggle Worm Stamp Set and was stamped on Whisper White CS using Memento Black Ink.
When I laid the sentiment in position, I knew my card needed something extra. I went through my dies to see if there was die of an ordinary tree, but I only found fir trees that were too big. I decided on the leaf branches I found in the Well Written Dies. After I had trimmed the tops off so they fitted the height of the wall, I was happy!
I decorated the inside of the card with a layer of Whisper White CS, and one of the leaf branches. Have you considered buying this stamp set? If not, have you changed you mind now? It really is a great fun set. That’s about it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime, happy crafting.

Love your friendly little bug friends on your card! What a fun card.
Thanks, Cathy. It’s very unlike me to choose a stamp set like this, but I think it’s cuter than most! xx
