Hello, Crafters.
Hubby and I arrived back in the UK on Wednesday morning at 7.20 am. We had two very pleasant uneventful flights from Hong Kong (via Abu Dhabi). After we’d finished getting all the unpacking done and the washing on the go, we had a sleep for three hours. We had an early night – 9.30 pm – and slept through till 7.30 am. I don’t understand why, on Thursday, Hubby was as bright as a button, and I felt totally zonked out! I had an extra-early night on Thursday night and felt so much better yesterday!
I haven’t had time to play in my studio yet, but today I’m sharing some Thank You cards I made a little while before we went away. These cards followed on from the first cards I made using the Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Cards & Envelopes. I chose to use the Detailed Bands Dies because they’re an excellent size for fitting into the white foil accent oblongs on the Magnolia Lane Kraft Cards.
I used the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper (DSP) as the backround, and layered it onto some Terracotta Tile Cardstock (CS). Using more Terracotta Tile CS, I die cut the largest Detailed Band. I adhered it to the DSP using Tombow, and trimmed off the ends. Before adhering this to the card base, I cut a strip of Terracotta Tile CS, the same width as the tab at the end of the die cut, and adhered it to the card base so it looked as if it was part of the die cut. I adhered the layer to the card base, making sure the tabs lined up with the strip of CS perfectly.
I used the THANK YOU stamp from the Magnolia Blooms Stamp Set, and stamped it on a piece of Whisper White CS using Terracotta Tile Ink. To die cut the sentiment I used the oval die in the Detailed Bands Dies because it has been designed to fit into the centre of the die cut perfectly. To add dimension to my card, I stamped and punched out two butterflies from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set. I sponged the Whisper White background using a Dauber and Seaside Spray Ink. I adhered them to the front of the card using Dimensionals, and added a row of Basic Pearls along their bodies.
To decorate the inside of the card, I added a layer of Terracotta Tile CS, then a layer of Whisper White CS. I didn’t decorate the inside of the card because it’s a Thank You card. When I’d finished the Kraft card, I made two more; one with a Whisper White CS card base, and the other with a Terracotta CS card base, just to see how different they looked. I took one extra step with these two cards, i.e. I embossed the top layer of Whisper White CS on the front of each card, using the Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder.
I’m happy with all three cards, but I think the Kraft card would have looked better if I had used different colours, rather than the Terracotta Tile and Seaside Spray. That’s it from me today. It’s great to be back again! As the saying goes: North, south, east and west, home is where I love the best!
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for keeping us company on our trip to Hong Kong, and for all your support – it really is appreciated. ♥ I hope you have great weekend and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
