Easel Card plus Drawer Video

Uncategorized

1 Sep

Hello, Crafters.

I have wanted to make an easel card with a drawer for years, but I’ve just never got round to it! Last week I saw a photograph on Pinterest posted by Judy May – www.judymay.typepad.com – and I was really drawn by what she had done to the drawer. Instead of cards or chocolates, she had added a divider, and put some handbag-size tissues one side and other bits on the other side.

The sentiment on the easel card was a get well soon message, so the contents of the drawer were for the recipients well-being. I chencked Judy’s blog to find out what the other bits were that she’d put in the drawer, but to no avail. Anyway, I thought it was a great idea and I loved the way she had decorated it – which I have virtually CASE’d.

I didn’t know what measurements to use so I started working from a packet of tissues, and worked everything out from there. The size was great for 4″ x 4″ cards, which I’ve made as notelets (note cards). I have made five cards for each set, which fit the drawer brilliantly. I didn’t work out the measurements for the divider in the drawer but I can do if anyone wants it – just let me know!

I didn’t realise but I used the wrong Lace Trim for these gifts! It made me check on the lace I used on a card I made earlier in the week, and found I used the wrong one on that as well. Ribbon is one of the rare products I don’t mind using after it has retired, but I always like to let my followers know that it’s retired!

I refer to these projects as gifts rather than cards, and as such, if they are being handed to the recipient I’d recommend they are wrapped in some pretty paper. If they need to be posted, they would need to be put into a sturdy box. These would make great teachers gifts, and super projects to make for craft shows, Christmas fairs etc.

If you make this project and you find the drawer doesn’t slide in and out very smoothly, rub the inside of the drawer wrap around, and the outside of the drawer with some wax paper, and it should slideinand out very smoothly. I give a demo of how I do this is the video. I’d discoved this tip when I made the first project on Friday, and it worked brilliantly. Typical, but the yellow box didn’t have any problems!

When I fitted the Whisper White and Mosaic Mood Designer Series Paper to the Easel card, the measurements were wrong! I survived making my pieces work for me, but I have put the correct sizes i the box below the video! That’s about it from me today. I wish you a ver blessed Sunday, and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.

JanB. xx

This box & card set are beautiful. A little time consuming but the outcome is what matters. I can just hear the oooohhhh’s & aaahhhhh’s from the person receiving this gift……TYFS & glad the rings are now together and where they should be…..on your finger…..it is gorgeous!!

Hello Jan! Beautiful project I’m going to teach next week to some girls in a card class but I can’t find the written instructions. It says they are below the video but I can’t make them show up. Could you email them to me @ vannagirl@charter.net. This video is for the easel card plus drawer video. Thank you so much for your assistance! Love your videos

Hi, Denise. I’m so pleased you’re using one of my projects. The measurements and products are all listed in the box below the video. I hope this helps:

      Opening the box on YT
All the measurements and the products used in creating this video are in the box below the video. To locate the box you must be watching the video on YouTube and then it depends what device you’re watching on. If it’s a laptop or PC, under the video, at the bottom of three lines of writing you’ll see SHOW MORE. Click on it and the box will open. If you’re on a phone, you’ll see a down arrow on the right-hand side. Click on it. I hope this helps. xx
