Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday we celebrated Harvest Festival at Church. As well as donations of food for the local Food Hub, we also had a great lunch of home-made Shepherd’s Pie. We had a lot of the local Brownies visit us, and it was lovely to see so many more children than usual. Apparently, the local Church they are affiliated to is currently without a minister, which means we may have the pleasure of seeing them again.
I made today’s card with two very special people in mind. It was inspired by a card made by Australian Demonstrator Kylie Bertucci. My card looks very different, apart from the colour and the strip of the Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper (DSP)! I cut the strip two inches wide so it would be possible to make three cards with each sheet.
I layered the DSP onto a piece of Highland Heather Cardstock (CS). Next I die-cut the two long sides of a piece of Whisper White CS, using the middle size die from the Delicate Lace Edgelits Dies. The card base is Highland Heather CS.
I chose the JUST FOR YOU sentiment from the Vibrant Vases Stamp Set, and stamped it in Gorgeous Grape Ink onto a piece of Whisper White CS. The smallest oval die in the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies fitted the sentiment beautifully. I popped it up on Dimensionals, and felt the card looked a bit flat! That was easily remedied with some glue and Dazzling Diamonds!
I decorated the inside of the card with a layer of Highland Heather CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS. As I’m using this card to write to my friends, I didn’t add a decoration inside. When I’m writing messages inside Note Cards or Thank You Cards, I write out a draft of what I want to say first. That way, I’m far less likely to make any mistakes (and make the card look messy!) and it also gives me an opportunity to add some decoration if I have the space!
Looking at my card as I’m sitting here writing, I notice that the lacy pattern is slightly out if you compare the left-hand side to the right-hand side. Going forward, I would still die-cut the lacy pattern on both side as I did for this card, but I’d cut the design in half vertcally. As long as the Whisper White CS is longer than the card base, I’d be able to line the paterns and trim off the overlaps top and bottom!
I have an early start today with an appointment to see the dental hygienist at 9am. I should have seen her at the beginning of September but my tooth had started playing up by then, so I cancelled the appointment! That’s it for today. I wish you a lovely week, and look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
