Hello, Crafters.
Life has been full of fabulous surprises! When we travel long distances, we fly business-class so we get flat beds to sleep in – it’s the only way my back can cope with such long journeys. I didn’t know that Hubby had booked the first half of our journey out here first class! He hadn’t planned on doing it but he received an email from the airline with an excellent offer. He decided to go for it as we’re on a honeymoon! The second half of the flight was in business class. Apart for some turbulence which was severe enough for the captain to tell the crew to take seats, the whole journey was unventful.

These swans were on our bed when we went into our room. There was also a bottle of wine and a bowl of fresh fruit in our room.
We had a taxi to the hotel, and Hubby surprised me again! He had upgraded our room to a suite. His reasoning was that, if we had problems finding suitable eating places for me – I’m coeliac – we could prepare our own meals in the room.

This a view from our harbour view room on the 38th floor! The photograph isn’t very good because of the reflection of the net curtains, but I hope it gives you a rough idea of what Hong Kong harbour looks like.
While we’ve been out and about today – Wednesday – we couldn’t find any restaurants that offer gluten-free food! This evening we dined in the Chinese restaurant in the hotel. We spoke to the restaurant manager and explained that I needed a gluten-free meal, he said that’s fine, they can do this! This evening I enjoyed one of the most enjoyable Chinese meals ever!
We spent our day wandering around the local area taking in the ambience of Hong Kong. I struggled a bit with the air at first – very hot and muggy – but my body adapted quite quickly. We wandered down side streets, up escalators, crossed bridges.

This was a market we stumbled across down one side road. There were so many shops selling fresh food – greengrocers, fishmongers, and butchers. It was also a road for the tram as well!
We went down to the railway station and bought an Octopus ticket each which we can use to pay for our travel. This evening, Othman has booked tickets for a visit to the Peak tomorrow.

In the UK, we don’t have many launderettes, but this one we saw in Hong Kong had this machine fitted in the outside wall. I have never seen machines before specifically for pet’s laundry, e.g. towels, blankets! The Pet’s laundry washing machine is below the tumble dryer! Such a great idea.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this quick update, and I look forward to being back with you soon.
Happy crafting.
JanB. xx
Wow Jan it looks amazing. Thank you so much for sharing. Hope you guys have a wonderful time xxx
Many thanks, Jackie. This trip really has been amazing! xx
I have never travelled so appreciate your photos :o)
Have a wonderful Honeymoon!!
Hi, Candy. I’m glad you’re enjoying our trip with us! xx
Dear Jan oh, you’ll have to clone your husband we are all going to be jealous. He can plan a honeymoon. I would have thought that one place you could have gotten a gluten-free meal would have been in China or Hong Kong. But I’m glad that you did not have to starve. Being a Celiac myself I understand how you feel. You should see how rarely they have gluten free meals in the United States they look at you like you have a third eye. But thank you for sharing your pictures I feel like I’ve gone all sorts of places with you. The one thing you’ll have to tell us if there are any good scrapbooking or card making stores in Hong Kong. If you’re there I’ll bet you’ll find them. Enjoy your honeymoon, Barbara Walsh
LOL! Yes, I am very blessed to have Othman as my husband. We have eaten out twice at lunchtimes since we arrived in Hong Kong. Most days we haven’t been able to find anywhere to eat and have gone without food until we were back at the hotel and the restaurants were opened. With the temperature over here reaching 32°C, this hasn’t been too difficult because we were drinking so much water! xx
Thank You so much for sharing your trip to Hong Kong. Very Interesting!! Happy Honeymoon!!
I think the Pet Laundry is a great idea!!
