Hello, Crafters.
I love using wreaths as my theme for Christmas cards. In this year’s Christmas catalogue we have two stamp sets that share one set of dies. The two stamp sets are called Tidings All Round (this is the set I used for today’s card) and Seasonal Wreaths. The co-ordinating dies are called the All Around Wreath Dies. Both stamp sets have an image of a wreath that can be die-cut with one of the dies in the set.
The second wreath die doesn’t have a separate stampable image, but die-cuts an actual wreath, made up of leaves. There are a couple of other dies that die-cut branches and leaves. The stamped wreath in the Seasonal Wreaths has been designed – in my opinion! – to be more suitable for a fall card, but can be decorated to be a Christmas wreath as well! These last two items are on my To Be Played With List! LOL!!
Although I’m happy to use non-traditonal colours for my cardmaking, I still love red and green! Today’s colours are Mossy Meadow and Real Red! I wanted to add some flowers around the wreath so I went through my dies to see which die sets offered me something suitable. I pulled out four sets to see what I thought would work best. These were: Well Written Framelits; Budding Blooms Dies; Lovely Flowers Edgelits; Detailed Deer Thinlits (brought forward from last year!).
I also pulled out Stitched Labels Framelits because I wanted to give the little hearts a test. The set I settled on is the Detailed Deer, which has solid flowers and outline flowers. I used two solid flowers for each complete flower, one on top of the other and slightly offset.
After I had added the flowers, I felt my wreath needed something extra, so I added some Rel Red Berries using a stamp from the Tidings All Round Stamp set. I also chose the sentiment from this set. I dry-embossed the top Whisper White Cardstock layer using the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Embossing Folder. To finish off my flowers I added a Gold Metallic Pearl to the centre, and then painted the rest using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.
To decorate the inside of my card, I added a layer of Mossy Meadow and Whisper White Cardstock. I stamped the wreath in the bottom right-hand corner, and decorated it in the same way I did on the front. The only excepion was that I used a Gold Sharpie Pen for the centre of the flower instead of the Gold Metallic Pearl. That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, so in the meantime, happy crafting.
