Hello, Crafters.
One of the gifts we received from Stampin’ Up! when we were on this year’s Incentive Trip, was a packet of the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements. I’ve had them sitting on my desk, waiting to be used, since the Christmas Catalogue went live at the beginning of September. Yesterday I decided to have my first play with the Bells Are Ringing, and I finally had a chance to use the branches in the Foil Elements!
I was planning to use some Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) as well; I had my eyes on the Mossy Meadow and Copper Foil foliage design! As you can see, that part of my plan didn’t work out, but I decided to stay with the Mossy Meadow anyway. I embossed the top Whisper White Cardstock (CS) layer, using the Scripty 3D Embossy Folder, which made a pleasant change for me!
I die-cut two Mossy Meadow CS bells, as well as two Copper Foil filigree bell decorations, and adhered the foil die-cuts onto the Mossy Meadow bells. Before I went too far ahead, I stamped my favourite Christmas sentiment from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, using Mossy Meadow Ink on Whisper White CS. I die-cut it using the regular no 1 die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies, and layered it onto a slightly larger piece of Mossy Meadow CS.
Now that my sentiment was prepared, I could play around with the layout of my images to get the best balance. I wanted to pop the bells up onto Dimensionals, so I needed to glue the branches down. In the Foil Elements there are left-hand and right-hand branches which makes life oh so much easier! I stamped the bow using Mossy Meadow Ink on a piece of Mossy Meadow CS, and then I die-cut it.
To make my bells look as if they were hanging from the top of the card, I adhered a thin strip of Mossy Meadow CS from the top of thetop of the Whisper White layer. I painted both the bow and the Hanging strip with my Clear Wink of Stella Pen. I adhered the sentiment in place with Dimensionals, and added two copper stars from the Star Designer Elements.
To decorate the inside of the card I added a layer of Whisper White CS which I’d adhered to a layer of Mossy Meadow CS. I normally decorate the bottom right-hand corner, but this time I decided it be more appropriate to decorate the top right-hand corner instead. I chose a smaller bell die, which also has a smaller filigree die for the inside of the bell.
I die-cut the bell in Mossy Green CS and the filigree design using Copper Foil, and adhered them together. I also wanted to use the bow but the bell is smaller than the two bells on the front of the card, and the bow, as it is, is too big! After stamping the bow in Mossy Meadow Ink on a scarp of Mossy Meadow CS, I fusst cut the bow! By doining this I was able to cut off the smaller layer on top but behind the main bow.
When I’d finished die-cutting the bow, I went around the edges using the brush end of my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker Pen. The bow now looks a much better size for the this smaller bell. I painted the bow with my Clear Wink of Stella Pen, in the same way I did on the bow on the front of the card. Out of all the foil colours we have, copper is definitely my favourite!
That’s about it from me today. I hope you have a fabulous Friday and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Such an elegant card, Jan. XX Mal
Many thanks, Mal. Change the colour and they’d be great for a wedding card, too! xx
Beautiful card Jan. I do love the embossing folder. TYFS
Many thanks, Claire. Yes, I prefer the more subtle embossing folders, rather than those with very busy designs. xx
