Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday morning I went to the dentist for my regular appointment with the hygienist. She has a small chalkboard with a great saying on it, and I thought you might like to start your day with a chuckle. I asked if she minded if I took a photograph of it and shared it with you. You may already have seen it, but it makes me smile everytime I see it!
To create today’s card I used the Gleaming Bright Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). It’s a specialty because one side of each sheet has copper foil in the design. The stamp set is called Perfectly Plaid and co-ordinates with the Pine Tree Punch. I was going to stamp the tree but changed my mind and used punched trees, and decided to punch the Christmas Tree in the same design DSP as the top layer.
Instead of popping the tree up on Dimensionals, I punched a total of eight trees, and adhered seven on top of each other. The eighth one was for the inside of the card! I die-cut the smallest size Stitched Rectangle Die that would allow enough space for me to heat emboss the MERRY CHRISTMAS sentiment. This is from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set, and I used our Copper Embossing Powder, to blend the sentiment with the Copper Foiling in the DSP.
I cut a piece of Copper Foil that was a quarter of an inch larger all round than the Whisper White Cardstock (CS) rectangle. Next I used the same size Stitched Rectangle Die that I used for the Whisper White rectangle and die-cut out the centre of the Copper Foil. I wanted the stitched edging on the Whisper White CS to run parallel to the stitching on the Copper Foil – it worked brilliantly!
I used regular tape to hold the Copper Foil centre to the outside edge of the Copper Foil frame. Then I used Tombox to adhere the Whisper White CS on top of the Copper Foil. I tied some Copper Trim around the rectangle and positioned it just above the sentiment, and then I adhered the Christmas Tree in place. I assembled my card base of Night of Navy, with a layer of Copper Foil, and then a layer of the same DSP design I’d used for the tree.
My initial thought was to adhere the image layer with Dimensionals but I changed my mind, and decided to adhere it using Tombow. I finished the front of the card by adding a Copper Star to the top of the tree, and another one by the sentiment! I played with the bow a little bit so I could open up the folded pieces to give it some character.
To decorate the inside of my card I added a layer of Copper Foil, and a top layer of Copper Foil. I adhered the eighth punched Pine Tree in the bottom right hand corner, and topper it with a Copper Foil Star. The only punch I had to punch a nice sized star was called Sprinkles, which retired a couple of years ago!
If you’re a customer of mine, the new Hostess Code for October 2019 is NS93KQ6B. That’s it from me today. I hope you have a terrific Tuesday, and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. As always, in the meantime, happy crafting.

Love the card Jan & the colors are great! TYFS
Many thanks, Claire. I love the traditional red and green for Christmas, but I do like to step out of my comfort zone occasionally! xx
I’m new to this and love the card but especially that you’ve shown too what to do for the inside. So many blogs have lovely cards but don’t give any inspiration for the inside.
Many congratulations on your marriage, Jan.
Many thanks, Rosemary. Decorating the inside of a card makes a big difference. I’m pleased you get inspiration from my projects. xx
